Just got back from my first road trip, about 1500km, Gas consumption was surprisingly good, averaged 8.3L/100km for combo city/hwy driving. Went to the US, I did find the NAV frustrating as both me and my wife couldn't figure out how to change the destination state until we were in that state. Having said that once we were there it was a great NAV system, with no mapping issues.

Overall i love this car and do not regret making this decision at all when it comes to picking the G70 over the german cars i looked at.

My biggest issues so far are

Fuel economy on Sport Mode is really bad, i mean really bad but you should only drive in this mode when you are ready to rock and roll so fuel probably wont be a concern but compared to previous cars in sport modes this has sub par fuel economy. Even Comfort is not good on fuel but eco is pretty good so i either drive in Sport or Eco.

My only other con is that i am starting to see a bit of wear on the outside seat bolster for my left leg/hip on the driver side. I am about 230lbs so a little heavy lol but i should not see wear this early on the leather bolster.

I do have a couple small gripes that i included on my youtube vids but those are just normal little wishes i would have liked

Everyone that sees the car loves it and the performance in Sport Mode is insane, if you have not test driven yet you should do so, if you have any questions let me know

Did you set the seat to push all the way back (setting 3) at egress and ingress? Mine goes well beyond the door frame,would be hard to wear it out in that location

My daily commute in Sport and driving sensible with no mashing the gas which is in town and about 17kms i get ( what my car tells me) 24L / 100km

That is insane!! My 2.0 g70 gets 8L/100km with mixed driving even with the occasional throttle stomp. Sport mode is worse because it tends to hold gears and avoid 8th almost completely, but 24L is not right at all unless u are full throttle off every light all the time.. any car would be terrible

Some "cost-saving" things I think that Genesis should improve on:

- the factory carpet/floor mat's material feels rougher/coarser than than my Lexus IS350.

- gas fuel door on the G70 is very plastic-ky. The door doesn't have any label that says what kind and what grade of fuel is recommended/required.

- the truck door is electric I think, but then there is no button to close it.

- would've been nice to have something between the seat and the armrest to prevent small items from falling to the gap. It was standard (I think) on the IS350.

On another note, as much as I prefer then 10 spoke wheel, I kinda understand why they put the 5 spoke on the sport: to match the dark chrome trim on the body.

Isnt the is350 a solid $5Gs more? These are pretty minimum complaints for the price of the car, they check all the major boxes.

That sort of thing come up often here. Of course we want the best but minor things can be overlooked when the price differences is 5 or 10 thou and the other dealer has better coffee in the waiting room.
Genesis is a pretty solid value for the price we pay.

Will you be buying a new IS350 or a G70?

I am leasing a g70 now and also own a is350. Got the is350 as a 2016 model b couple of years ago when they were clearing it out (there was a 10k dealer/manufacture discount combined). it actually came cheaper than the g70 sport after applying the discount.

The G is definitely a lot of car of the money, i would say even more so than the IS.

My "complaints” on the G were not real complaints, they are just some minor things I noticed at having driven it for a week. I feel these minor things could be something Genesis can easily improve on without much cost to make the G even better

"Truck door"? Do you mean "trunk lid"? Why would it be electric open but manual close? That's cheap (not in a good way).

I would have preferred a wheel with an open 6 o'clock like the G80 wheel since I like to hold the wheel at the bottom when cruising. Since that doesn't prevent the "sporty" 3-9 position I don't understand why auto manufacturers like 3-spoke wheels so much.

Many trunk lids will pop open by springs once unlocked., It is pretty cheap to put a solenoid to unlock it than to motorize both up and down motions and lock. Same as the release for the gas cap door. I've owned many cars with a release from inside, never one to close it.

G80 has it on the top models, but not the lower ones. Maybe that will happen.

I dont see how any of this isnt industry standards. I dont see any 3 series or A4s with self closing trunks. If u wanna make that complaint about the g90 than i can understand.

Ok. I was expecting the G70 to have motorized up/down like the Stinger does.

The G70 is not motorized open...it’s like other similar cars. When you pop it...there’s spring action to open it for you. Grab the hidden handle to close.

The Stinger is a fastback...truck lid is huge and heavy...incorporates trunk lid and back window, etc. So it has a self closing mechanism.

Let’s try to compare apples to apples.
