If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

(#easy) You want a LED DRL on your US Genesis? Read on.

I have been looking all over for this THANKS! Can/Could you describe how to do this without pulling the bumper. Thanks! Or if you know of anyone who has/can do this in DC.

So the amber driving lights continue to run as DRL in Auto mode and the accent/parking lights burn bright when in Parking light mode or headlight on mode?

I have been working on this and a relatively simple semi fix is available for US cars. As reported in this thread, a wire is missing in the connector on US versions. Unfortunately, there is NOT a wire on the corresponding plug on US versions like the Canadian version. By removing the center brown wire and moving it to the empty spot on the connector, the parking lights will then be the brighter version of the lights. The only caveat is that you must turn on the parking lights but it is awesome to have the bright LED eyebrows.

So you just move the brown wire to the empty slot on the same connector? as indicated in the pics above?

I just wanted to say that I just did the switch, easy super easy and they are much brighter.. Once you put it in Auto mode they go back to low light.

Update: now for some reason I don't have fogs working???? has anyone with the tech package with fogs that have done this mod, have the same problem???

Couple questions:
If, say an Audi is coming at me with it's LED DRLs on, and a turn signal is turned on, the LED DRL on that side of the car turn off until the turn signal is turned off. On a 2016 Genesis that "comes" with the LED DRLs, does that happen? And once this change is made to a 2015, if the turn signal is turned on, do these LEDs that are now the DRLs turn off?

Yes the LED DRL will turn off on the 16 genesis the turn signal will become a small amber blink. Unless you purchase OEM Korean Domestic (dual projector) Genesis or G80 head lights, then the entire DRL will blink amber, looks much better imo.

srobak,
So if I am understanding you, without doing this "brightening" work on the headlights (bumper removal, electrical, etc.), I could just manually turn on my LED parking lights to use as running lights in the daytime, and then switch to regular lights for night driving? Untalented as I am, that would still be an improvement over the amber DRLs. Right? Tks.

Can someone confirm if after doing this mod, the side amber accents (triangular) no longer light up when switching the knob? Mine aren't a lighting anymore ... Is this due to moving the wire over at the plug??

Yes, they no longer work due to switching the wire.

I'm looking at taking this a step further, since I don't have a spare headlight laying around...and I would like the side amber triangle to work.
This looks like the same male pin if I remember correctly. Anyone agree with me on it working?

Edit: I may even tap off that middle wire into the open port with an additional wire and pin instead of running the additional wire back through the plug.

So to clarify this only makes the LED's brighter in parking mode, and still uses the amber lights as DRL for 2015 Genesis?

Yes, amber DRL's. With Headlights on, the LED's are much brighter than before.

Hi Im new to this forum. I just purchased a 2015 Genesis 3.8 AWD with the tech package. when I got the car I hated the amber DRL. so I fixed it
it now has bright led strips in auto mode with no amber. when the parking or headlights are on the led strips dim. when the blinker is on the amber
light flashes and so does the led strip. If anyone is interested i can do a write up.
this is my car with the lights on auto.

I would like a write up.

Count me in please in wanting a write-up. If this is true, you may have achieved what everyone said was impossible.

I am interested as well, as someone who started this thread =)

check this site out for led amber turn signals and day time running lights exledshop.com

I'll do a write up as soon as I can. At the latest this weekend. I'm also going to try wiring so that when the blinker is on the led strip goes out completely.
