this guy alleges he/she has driven the Genesis V8 for 2weeks and rate the Genesis at worst grade.. but we all know that V8 has not been sold in the states yet . where could this guy get the V8 from?... I seriously suspect that the writer might be a salesperson of other brands-maybe Lexus

Review

I took delivery of my new Genesis out of complete impulse, taken aback by the initial looks and really wish I would have taken more time to realize what I did. I have been driving the Genesis for over two weeks, and I can't find one thing about the vehicle that would have prompted me to purchase this vehicle. The seating position is terrible, I have had my Lexicon CD Changer replaced, and where is the steering wheel controls. Even a Corolla has those. The power of the engine is impressive, however, that's about it.

Favorite Features

The pep of the engine, but it winds a bit before deciding on a gear.

Suggested Improvements

Stick with low end cheap cars, that's what Hyundai is good at. Considering this has the body of a Lexus, and the interior of a domestic wannabe lux, the originally is sorely missing and rather pedantic. Looking to trade by end of month, fool me once...

Well. I guess that's his opinion. Sad that he thinks he has a v8. If he's that ignorant, than I really don't take his review all that seriously. All the owners here should write a review of their Genesis.. And maybe leave a link back to here.

I reported the post. Clearly this reviewer is just some crack pot with an ax to grind. He's probably a 'lux' salesman who just lost a sale and decided to get back at Hyundai by slandering the Genesis.

Wow he was so lucky to get the very first V8! Amazing what lengths some people take to be spiteful. I appreciate honest criticism but this poster was obviously a fraud.

In my experience, most consumer car reviews online are written by someone with only a superficial knowledge of the product and a severe brand-bias.

You can read factually inaccurate consumer reviews that praise a model, and factually inaccurate consumer reviews that criticize it.

It would be great if they had to supply a VIN number (or some other form of ingenuitive verification) in order to write the review. The only value in the reviews at all is that they're supposed to be coming from someone with a lot of experience (ie: an owner) with the product.

I don't think this guy was driving the Genesis! I was a BMW owner up to three weeks ago when I turned it in and got my Genesis with/Tech. Pckg., and I could NOT BE MORE HAPPY if I tried.

Obviously, this person either works for or is paid by other brands who which they could give their customers a substantial, great looking and well equipped car for $40,000!

I just submitted my own review to edmunds today. My review had nothing but 9's and 10's, all of which were richly deserved.

I don't know why it takes a week for them to post them online. I could understand one or two days at the most.

I thought the same as you, but in this case the problem is not the fact that consumer review is usually biased or too subjective but that this guy reviewed UNSOLD car, which means the review is not merely biased but a kind of fraud.

I'm saying a lot of online consumer reviews are a kind of fraud. People write a review for something they never drove.

Even if they supply a VIN there are problems. Most people write reviews the first few days they own the vehicle. That's the period when the vehicle still seems wonderful and new and they haven't had the time to identify problems.

I bought a Chevy Impala in summer of 2001, and for the first year I loved it. If someone asked me about it the first year, I would have done nothing but praise it. If you asked me about the same car before I traded it in last year, my review would have been far more fair: excellent gas mileage, excellent reliability, plenty of space, fantastic huge trunk, good crash ratings for the year it was released (poor ratings on newer IIHS tests), easy entry and exit, adequate power, too much road noise, very poor handling, uncomfortable bench seats which caused back pain for most people on long trips, and disappointing sound quality from the radio.

Overall it wasn't bad, but if someone asked me an opinion the first year I owned it I wouldn't have noticed any of the problems. ( Not that it matters, but I rented the redesigned 2006 Impala for a few days two years ago. Seat comfort was slightly improved, the handling was dramatically improved, the interior looked nicer, crash test ratings were better, and space was about the same. Road noise and the standard stereo were still disappointing. )

I see what your're getting at. to be honest I was not as much skeptical as you about consumer reviews on online journals, so this kind of review made me very disappointed.(even though i know reviews from ordinary consumers are not much impartial )
