  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Electric GV70

Cutting my lawn this afternoon and a black eGV70 rolled by checking out my gleaming silver gas hog in the driveway.

But you already can use the Surround View Monitor on the app. I've been using it on all my GV70s, even the gasoline versions.
Really? It did not work for my GV70 EV and my GEM said it is not available in Canada. Not sure if it is an issue with the app or the car.

It works in Canada on my gas model, so that's not really true.

Can you explain how you can access this in the Genesis app? I've gone through it in detail and I can't find anything that shows the surround view? Looking at Youtube videos - it appears you need to click on a "map" icon that is not showing up on my version of the app. Maybe I'm missing something?

When you're using the app, do you see this in your menu? Please also bear in mind that the US and Canada don't have the same app.

My app does not have the options that you have. See below. It may be because I'm based out of Canada but I thought you mentioned that you were too? Perhaps you were somehow able to download the US app and get it to work here?

Nope, I'm very much in Canada and I'm using the Canadian version of the Genesis app. I had the same problem on the GV80 as well where the Surround View Monitor feature wasn't showing up on the app. Have you tried deleting the app altogether and then downloading it again and signing back on to see if that helps?

Also, I noticed your app doesn't indicate your vehicle as being an electric GV70 like mine does. This is just a hunch but if your dealership didn't set up your Genesis account correctly it may be preventing you from accessing all the features you have in the car. I've never owned a 2.5T GV70 but maybe not all variants of the GV70 have Surround View?

Thanks - thats a big help. I do have an Electrified GV70 so likely the dealership didn't set-up the account correctly. I'll give them a call to figure it out!

Did you get it sorted out?

Well, that is good news! Just too bad they wouldn't be available in 2024 for our annual summertime road trip to Northern BC. Here in BC, Tesla has a vast network. At a local mall, I counted 24 Super chargers.

Curious to see what rates Tesla will charge.

Genesis announced Evs can be charged with Tesla Super Chargers, but the 2023 EVS will not be able to use the Tesla Chargers until 2025.

Yes that's good news, switching to NACS at the end of 2024 and CCS-equipped cars like ours will get an adapter in the first quarter of 2025. Suddenly the network where we can recharge will greatly expand. It won't be top speed like a 350KW charger would offer, but very decent speed nonetheless!

That's awesome news!

Thinking about maybe getting an Electric GV70. What's the home charging like? Can you just plug-in or do you need to install something in your garage? I work from home so the only time I'd have to charge at a station would be while traveling longer distances. Thanks for sharing your first-hand knowledge!

Hi Sir Jangle,

Yes you need to install a home charger in a 240V outlet on a circuit with a 40A breaker, to recharge from 10% to 100% in about 7.5h. Otherwise, charging on a 120V home outlet would take 3 days and is not recommended (It's for emergency use only, as the outlet may overheat).

Also check around your area for Electrify America charging stations - you get 3 yrs free (30min sessions) and most have 350kW chargers that charge to 80% in 10-15 minutes

I work from home and sometimes go days without driving my auto. Would I just leave it plugged-in during this time or only charge it when needed? I live in NE Ohio. Would the cold weather cause the battery to discharge while just sitting in my garage? Thanks!

If your garage is not heated and you get a cold winter, it might happen, but if temperatures are mild the car shouldn't lose much charge, if any.

You can always install a charger at a later time if you end up thinking you'd rather have that, and if it's close enough from your electric box and you have enough free slots left in it for the additional breaker without changing the whole box, it would not be too big a job.

Thanks! My electric box is in the garage. I believe there's extra space. House was built in 2001. So, not too old. My wife works for a building department and knows lots of contractors. I'm just trying to do my homework before making the jump. Have there been any major issues with the Electric GV70?
