  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Electric GV70

Northern California. We flew down to Scottsdale, Arizona to pick this one up back in September. It was impossible to find this color combo anywhere in the western US.
Is it a 2024 model built in the USA?

Higly recommened, got them installed and the fit is perfect. The trunk mat even covers the back of the back seat. Only minor complaint is the Tuxmat logo is easily dented.

Got mine ordered this morning.

Just messing around on Photoshop Express. The picture doesn't fully capture the effect of the satin paint (and the car is still quite wet here), but I'm really liking this Matterhorn White colour.

Looks great but as you say, the satin finish is kind of lost in pictures, and it's pretty much the same for other shots I saw of this color. Months ago when I first saw it I felt like it was kind of chalk white, but as I got to see all the subtelty of the satin grey (With metallic sparkle in it), I'm pretty sure there is more to it than photos give it justice. Is there some metallic or pearl effect in it that shows up only when the sun or a light shines on it?

Funny anecdote regarding the matte grey, I have a Eufy motion activated camera aimed at my parking spot, but it just can't pick up my car moving (I don't know if it's because it's matte grey on grey asphalt, Eufy told me the camera was mounted too high (Can't bring it down really), yet that never stopped it from catching my red RAV4 moving before)... It's like my car is stealth or has some kind of cloaking device preventing my camera from seeing it move, yet it catches every neighbor's car moving in the parking! So that kind of defeats the purpose of having that camera altogether...! 🤷‍♂️

My Matte Barossa Burgundy has a red metallic flake in it that you can see in bright light. It's pretty cool!

Pictures and movie clips are usually taken from way too far for this detail to be visible, also when you try to catch it up close and upload it to a forum, often the compression will mangle it to the point where it just won't be visible... It must look awesome! 👍

Interestingly, I've found that the satin paint has a tendency to glow instead of shine, especially under certain lighting conditions. I think there might be an easy way to capture that in a photo, but will have to wait for the weather to improve.

You're correct. I actually had it 3 days before I noticed it as it was raining when we got it. I love matte paint! The best I've seen is BMW's Frozen Gray.

Happy New Year, eGV70 community!!

So this morning was a festival of black ice all over the place and no salt was sprayed by the city, as a result the car started sliding on an on-ramp, I just lifted the throttle and played with the steering to bring it back straight, full-regen was on and I have to say it was a rather benign experience. The car was easy to recover, it was my first time having it slip this way (I wasn't going especially fast). I didn't have any hint it was that slippery until I had reached that specific location.

Another driver was less lucky, just after that slippery curve his car was back first in the ditch.

I remember a way more hair-rising experience with my very first car (Mazda 323) where that car was rocking left and right for what felt like an eternity between two lines of cars (I was so lucky there was nobody in the middle lane and not to have touched any car)!

Seeing how easy the Electrified GV70 was to recover I'd say is a testimony as to just how stable that platform is...

Were you in Snow mode, Wolf?

No, there was actually no snow at all (Very unusual for this time of year), only a bit of rain that froze on the ground. It was a very thin layer and it's not like I had to scrape anything from the car when I left (Just some frozen droplets that windshield washer took care of).

It was even easy to walk outside, the slipping issue would happen only at higher speeds (>50 km/h), I did not notice it before reaching that specific areaita few km away from home, it was quite a bit treacherous (Normally some salt should have been sprayed on the roads but nothing was done).
