  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Electric GV70

I haven't had the need to use the Genesis Connect app for over a week since my car died on the highway owing to the ICCU failure.

So sorry to hear about that... I really hope they will fix it in a timely manner and that it will permanently address the issue.

It reminds me I really should schedule an appointment for the latest recall on this...

I had the latest ICCU software update/recall carried out a week ago today. Decided to wait at the Genesis store (comfortably in the showroom customer lounge area) while they did their work. The recall work plus an exterior car wash took them 2-1/4 hours, which I thought was pretty great.

Btw... Since the latest update, I've charged my eGV70 once (at home) and I noticed (heard) the vehicle's front blower fan running at one point during charging, which I've never heard before. It appears the latest software update has more aggressively revised the thermal management aspects of the ICCU. No doubt a very good thing!

Thanks.

Yes, best to get the car in for the recall asap. I had it done for my white one when I was in Vancoiver over Christmas but hadn't gotten around to doing the one in Calgary. We'll....NOW it's done! Lol

Just waiting for a replacement battery which could take another week or so.

A deficiency with my car is the ability to keep the windows defrosted in cold weather. Anything in the -20 range and colder has me cycling between auto mode and front window defrost mode to keeps the windows defrosted and my feet warm. I have not found a way to keep the air flow at the feet and on the windshield simultaneously. When it’s warmer outside (~-10) the car sometimes activates auto defrost mode without any intervention on my part, but I can’t find a way to enable auto defrost mode. Any ideas?

Here in southwestern Ontario we don't typically see the kind of very cold temperatures you guys get in Edmonton, but we quite often see -10 C or colder, especially in the overnight or early morning. I never use 'Auto' climate mode in my eGV70, preferring to set everything manually. In winter I set the driver's side air flow distribution to all 3 directions - windshield, face and floor. The passenger side air flow distribution is always set to the only 2 options available - face and floor. Generally I never need to increase fan speed to above level 5 or 6, and when I shut off the car for the day I usually lower the fan speed to level 1 so that the HVAC system doesn't immediately begin blowing cold air at a high rate on vehicle re-start. I generally leave the Heat button activated when the ambient temperature is below about 10 C. When the ambient is above 10 C I typically turn off the Heat function and go with the seat heater and heated steering wheel only - that's usually enough to keep me comfortable.
The auto defrost mode you speak of is referred to in the owner's manual as "Auto Defogging" - ref. page 5-102. This feature can be turned on or off by selecting Setup then Vehicle>Climate>Defog/Defrost Options>Auto Defog from the Settings menu.
In recent days I've noticed auto defogging activate several times in my eGV70.
I only ever press the stand-alone defrost button when the windshield needs major defrosting.
As info, I usually set the cabin temp. control(s) to 18 C in winter, which is plenty warm enough while wearing a coat.

Thanks for the feedback. I think the issue is that “auto defogging” isn’t activating in cold weather. I haven’t had a car that has defrosted this poorly since ones that were manufactured in 1980-something. The heat pump is wildcard here I think.

A few weeks ago I had a fogging issue, but we were 4 or 5 in thr car, and it had snowed but wasn't that cold (Very sticky, thick snow, it was very humid). I was alternating between full blast defrost and Auto mode.

I then discovered that when remote starting the car, the rear vents would automatically be shut off. So after that, when using the remote start, I would press the Back button and put the vents to Auto. Then I would put the fan speed to medium or high when it was humid, and didn't have that fogging issue again. Also stayed away from the Driver Only button.

Haven't had -20 weather yet but it will be the case tomorrow, we'll see how that goes.

The Electrified GV70's automatic climate control system is apparently equipped with an auxiliary PTC heater element. The heater element, which is fed power from the high voltage battery, is meant to provide the cabin with near-instant heat while the heat pump system spools up to eventually provide the primary heat. I think my PTC heater element began working for the 1st time yesterday. When I began my drive, I was waiting for cabin heat from the heat pump system (as per usual) and then suddenly I was sensing a burning smell and then a huge heat wave came blowing out of the defroster vents, reflected off the windshield and hit me in the face! That's never happened before. Has anyone else here had a similar experience? There's nothing in the owner's manual about the auxiliary PTC heater element. I just finished writing the Genesis Guest Experience Team to ask them for information about the feature. I think a service visit to the Genesis store may be in the cards.

I do not remember a burning smell, however I always found that the heating would be much faster than in an ICE vehicle in winter conditions, the combination of that PTC and heat pump really does a great job. I hope yours works fine from now on.

Thanks.

The 12 volt. The entire ordeal ended up taking close to a month, but that's life. Super happy to be back in my car.

Yes, the car is filthy again... That's what driving 2h in winter will do. A charger at the cottage is a must have, but I could do without snowbanks as high as the car...😉

2026 Genesis Electrified GV70 Korean Review
Unfortunately my Korean is a little rusty. :ROFLMAO: The updated car looks really good though.
More review videos from Korea (incl. English speaking ones) in connection with the '26 eGV70 will likely be released within the next couple of weeks. I'm waiting for the first drive/review video from CarSceneKorea.

So... Happy St-Patrick's Day! 🍀 😉

Fyi - Below is the link to a new video from 'Car Scene Korea' entitled "2026 Genesis GV70 Electrified Facelift First Look - Exterior & Interior Walkaround (No Talking)". I expect Car Scene Korea will follow up soon with a driving impressions video (with talking!).

The featured vehicle in the video is obviously a fully equipped Korean-market car, with a few features that will likely not be available for the North American market, including the 'Built-In Security Camera' function and the memory controls for the front passenger seat. I do like the new amber-coloured rear turn signal LED lights - something the 1st gen eGV70 should have had all along.

Hey all - I just discovered there's a new (April 2025) Navigation Map and Software Update available for our vehicles. :)
Here are the links to the Canada and USA 'Genesis Navigation Update' websites that mention the availability of the new update:

Canada: April 2025 Navigation Map and Software Update > Notice | Official Genesis Navigation Update Website

USA: April 2025 Navigation Map and Software Update > Notice | Official Genesis Navigation Update Website
Thanks, I saw that and installed it Sunday night, apparently the Tesla chargers are included in the map update. Some U.S. customers got the e-mail to order the adapter (Other good news was that it's free), yet no news of when customers will be able to do so in Canada...

My car is off to get summer wheels today, they gave me a nice white G70 as a loaner, and as soon as I parked in my spot, my neighbor was working on his motorcycle and it fell on its side - A foot closer and the loaner car's doors would have stopped it! 😳 I was still standing next to the car and caught the bike's antenna as it was falling, preventing it from scratching the car! Catastrophy avoided...

Anyways, here's a picture of the unscathed loaner...!
