If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi I own a 2009 4.6 with Tech package. I recently had issues mainly with the electrical of the car. For example I have issues with the car not recognizing the key fob or something similar. Sometimes I cannot start the car or the alarm will turn on even though I unlocked the car using the key fob. Eventually the car will start. Sometimes the key fob light turns on saying the car does not detect it even though the car is on. Also the long beep turns on, the one where if you turn on the car then walk out with the keys, even though the car is off. Only way I turn this off is if I lock the car. I never had this happen to me. Another issue I am having is the lights in the car are flashing, the dome lights, the footwell lights. One last issue that popped up are the seat belt lights turning on as well when I have it buckled anyway. All of these issues popped up around the same time. So I think they are all related but I have no idea what it is. I change out the car battery thinking it was going bad and the guy at autozone did say it needed to be changed. I am guessing it is a sensor issue but have no idea which one. My car is out of warranty but I do have the engine warranty which this is not related to engine.

Did you replace the battery with the proper amperage AGM battery? Have you replaced the batteries in the key fobs? Has another key fob been left in the car after the car is turned off? I had my battery replaced in my Yukon Denali with a standard battery. My electrical then still was messing up, so then I replaced the battery with the proper AGM battery and my electrical problems went away. I hope this info helps.

I would disconnect the battery and let it sit for an hour then reconnect it. Take a voltage reading of the battery, a full charge 100% is 12.7v, 80% is 12.5v and 50% is 12.1v., to me any battery under 50% either needs a charge or is bad. Make sure sure your connections to the battery posts are clean and tight. With all of that done all should work OK.

My 2013 3.8 Tech Pkg has a lead acid OEM battery with a vent tube to the spare tire area and out.

If your car battery and fob battery are original, then they are both in bad need of replacement. (edit...sorry, just noticed that you said you had replaced the battery)

Even though your car battery is recharged by your alternator when you are driving, car batteries are generally good for only 5-7 years of discharge/recharge cycles.

I had a 2009 Genesis 4.8L that had problems similar to the ones you describe. I replaced the fob battery first and still had intermittent issues. When I replaced the car battery, all the issues went away.

I Have the same problem!!! Seatbelt light flash, did not detect the key and rear defrost stop ( at the same time...). Randomly when i m on the road. I change the battery and no problem for one week and now its coming back!! Whats the solution... batterie 12.4 volt and alternator 14 volt...!!!

I have this problem in my 2009 3.8 Tech Package. The electrical stuff (lights, door chime) in the car seems to stutter as soon as I open the door. Sometimes it all shuts down then will start back up again. I seem to have to get lucky with starting my car once the stuttering stops. Once started the vehicle is OK. I don't believe this to be a car battery or keyfob battery issue.

I have the same issue with my 2009 4.6. It's been happening more and more frequently. Sometimes the car will not start at all. The interior lights flicker like there's a short somewhere. Typically I disconnect the negative end on the battery, which solves the problem for a while. It's since come back. Not sure what to do.

starter, could be alternator, but if car does not start but good battery, then it is starter.

I am starting to have the same issues. Did you ever find the issue ?

For lack of a better term, my car or engine throbs/pulsates every couple of seconds and when it does, the lights on the display behind the steering wheel also throb and grow dim during each pulse on beat with it.

I wonder what that’s about.

Check the ground in the trunk. Mine was attached to a painted surface. I cleaned the paint off and have had no issues since.

I was having very similar issues recently and couldn’t figure out what the root cause was. Three days ago I decided not to put my seatbelt on thinking that perhaps it was a seatbelt switch. Guess what ? the problem went away. Obviously I can’t continue to drive without my seatbelt on so I’m going to replace the seatbelt switch in cross my fingers.

I’m having similar issues with car. Lights flashing and key fob led coming on as if there is not key fob even while driving the car. Did anyone find a solution?

OK I seem to have narrowed the issue down. I am not an automotive electrician or technician. I tried the process of elimination and sheer luck. Here are the things I did:
1. Changed the main car battery: problem unresolved
2. Changed the key fob battery: problem unresolved
3. Checked all fuses and relays (in cabin and engine bay): everything checked out. Didn't find any anomalies.
4. Disconnected main battery again and reconnected to check for lose terminals and grounding wire issues: problem unresolved

Finally decided on a whim to take a test drive leaving my cell phone at home. And bingo! Didn't get any key fob errors or seat belt caution. Car locked and unlocked every single time without any issues. No stuttering cabin lights. I assumed that the cell phone frequency was either messing with the key fob or the car's GPS/Bluetooth.

I will be testing further with turning off various network settings on my cell phone. I leave my wifi on as a habit and I will keep it off when driving. Another suspect is a setting called "VoLTE calls" on my Samsung Galaxy Note 9. Turned it off and took a test drive. Didn't have issues but I need to test further.

To everyone who are having similar issues as the OP. Do try to take a test drive while leaving your cell phone at home. By test drive I mean drive at least 50 or 60 kms on the freeway just to make sure. Hope this helps. Ill keep everyone posted on my progress.

Did anyone figure this out? I’m having the same issue
I resolved mine by leaving my Fitbit at home. Turns out it wasn't the phone, it was my Fitbit interfering with everything. I haven't had any issues for months now.

IBS battery needs initiative. and disconnect any wireless charge.

What is the correct battery for a 2010 Genesis

Avoid AGMs unless the car can handle charging AGMs (I am not sure about the BH), otherwise it might overcharge and degrade the useable life. Ultimately costing you more $ for nothing. This is more of a concern in warmer climates, but charging makes heat and charging at high temp (>120F) is bad juju for AGMs. Trunk mount helps with this.
