  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Electrify America Sucks

Not looking good right now for EV's:

Nor, ultimately, for US carmakers. The rest of the world is going electric and we are falling way behind in the competitive race. Without a significant home base, GM, Ford and Stellantis will fall farther and farther behind their competitors in EV technology.

Henry Ford didn't want to change and his company as great as it was originally, almost completely failed because it wouldn't change.

But...go ahead and keep running your dinosaur juice machine. I hope you are taking good care of it because there won't be many more like it.

Is "the rest of the world" really going full electric?

Sales are slow/declining, resale value for EV's absolutely sucks, they carry toxic, earth damaging batteries that have to be disposed of. There are a LOT of hurdles for EV's to overcome.

Ya know Alfer, you seem to love to come into the EV posts and pee in the punch bowl - for over a year now. Please try to find your jollies somewhere else. You’re not adding anything constructive to the conversation.

So a national news story regarding the struggles of EV's isn't relevant to an EV discussion? Weird.

My personal opinion, that was a totally dick move on your part. And to make it political is even more dickish. No wonder you all lost so badly.
BOTH the parking and note were d@ck moves.

The “you” that lost is most Americans, regardless of affiliation.

@Alfer, I think the issue is your repeated cherry-picking of information/misinformation. You’ve been corrected on much of what you’ve posted in this forum, yet you continue to restate what has already been debunked.

1)You, yourself, previously posted a link to a podcast that you claimed was support of the environmental harm of EVs, without actually listening to it, as the conclusion was that even under the most reasonably-pessimistic assumptions, EVs were still better for the environment than ICEs.

2)Regarding slow/declining EV sales: EV sales in the US were up 15% 2024 vs. 2023, while total light duty sales were up just a third of that.

I enjoy engaging in reasoned debate of differing viewpoints, but this isn’t what you’re doing. You spout off uninformed, unsupported, biased opinions - even after you’ve been provided with proof of the contrary.

Also, things are not looking good for the entire NA automobile industry. It will be devastated if Trump proceeds with the tariffs he’s announced, which are both unconstitutional and contrary to the CUSMA - which he, himself, signed during his first term.

There was a really good video about 20 minutes long I saw recently, about the Chinese automobile/EV industry and how they are moving ahead of the rest of the world. Will try to find it and post here.

Internet maxim: Every website gets a troll.
I don’t think it’s trolling.

To me, a Troll is someone that posts stuff (which they may not even believe themselves) just to upset others. That’s not my read here.

My take here, is that we have someone repeating an ideological narrative. What matches the ideology is believed, and anything that contradicts it is summarily dismissed/ignored.

It may be foolish and dishonest, but isn’t necessarily trolling, IMO.

I recently had this with someone I know personally. They made a criticism supposedly based on some factual belief they had (easily validated with available data). I collected some data that proved them wrong, printed it up, and offered it to them. Their response was “I don’t care about the data (I’ll continue to believe what I believe).”

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
When, while discussing any issue of EV's, you state, "No wonder you all lost so badly.", you are trolling.

Ditto for OP who hated said truck driver because he had "Trump" stickers all over the truck.

Yes and no. Regardless of the political party, if you have stickers all over the entirety of the back of your car, there's something wrong. Not normal. Sure, free speech and all, but it's still obnoxious and performative.

Given that the current "administration" has pulled EV funding and ordered the decommissioning of thousands of existing EV chargers installed at federal buildings that were paid for with our taxpayer dollars, we will have to support networks like EA who are going to need all of us to continue to charge there so that they don't get crushed by anticompetitive and illegal monopolies that Tesla and EM are looking to create by making sure nobody can compete with them because they all of a sudden are the most powerful, unelected, unconfirmed, unvetted, and foreign born civilians in the history of the US.

According to your profile you don't even own an EV. This is a forum for GV60 owners or people looking to buy or learn about the GV60. You are the definition of a troll.

This morning is a perfect example of why we always want to have a backup plan, even it's only a 50kw charger. According to both the website and the app, about half of the EA locations are down. And I'm not talking about half of the chargers at one station, I'm talking all of the chargers at half the stations in the US.

Just checked, and while we seem to be OK on the west coast, a lot of stations mid-country (and NY State) are out. Curious.

While EA does indeed suck in general, when things go right our cars charge super quick:

I for one would like a report post-trip, should SWMBO deign to provide....
Mid-trip report:

Amazingly, there was a single open EA charger when she arrived in Quartzite, and the session proceeded without a hitch. 😳

When she left after a mere 15 minutes of charging (from 38-82%), all the chargers were full and there were 3 cars waiting.
