  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The adaptive cruise control really comes in a handy when I am in stop and go traffic on the Los Angeles highways. At the same time I always carry a low level of anxiety that the system ain't going to stop the car. Excluding the radar issues in rain and heavy fog where the system tells you it is not working, has there ever been a case of the system failing and someone rear ending the car in front of you? As a parallel question has there ever been a case of the car suddenly slamming on the brakes for no reason while going high speed? I know that all electronics are capable of failing.

No, not that I'm aware of. However everything is prone to some failure. Simply keep you foot near the brake and don't depend upon them solely. The problem with such systems is; drivers become too reliant on them to do the work the driver ought to be doing. They can save you if you're not paying attention or focused on your driving but they don't take over the driving for you. They are semi-autonomous systems.

There have been deaths attributed to some autonomous remote vehicles failing though. So it's best to play it safe and pay attention to your driving.(y)
