The adaptive cruise control really comes in a handy when I am in stop and go traffic on the Los Angeles highways. At the same time I always carry a low level of anxiety that the system ain't going to stop the car. Excluding the radar issues in rain and heavy fog where the system tells you it is not working, has there ever been a case of the system failing and someone rear ending the car in front of you? As a parallel question has there ever been a case of the car suddenly slamming on the brakes for no reason while going high speed? I know that all electronics are capable of failing.
