  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I checked my oil level this morning and noticed a pretty strong gasoline odor on the dip stick.
The car is only 8k miles on the clock with Mobil1 5-20 (second oil change). Gasoline used is mostly top-tier 93 octane.
Granted my work commute is only 6 miles round trip and I have not driven any long trip lately which will change quickly comes this coming work week.
I've read somewhere that our engine runs pig rich.
But is it normal?

Six miles round trip is only 3 miles between starting and turning it off. That's about the worst thing you can do to an engine other than outright abuse. Startup enrichment leads to some possible wash down into the oil and the oil never gets warm enough to vaporize the gas.

Check the oil level and then take it for a 20-30 minute drive. Recheck the oil level---------------you'll probably find it dropped.
