  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2009 Genesis sedan which has started having an intermittent problem. When I start it sometime (but not always) the satellite radio will not be playing and an error message to check the antenna will appear. Once the display just remained dark. On a few occasions the radio started playing on it's own, but, usually the display will be there without any sound until the car is shut down and restarted. I have also noticed the seat adjustment program is forgetting it's settings and the seat has to be manually adjusted every time I start the car. About a week before this started the trunk was left open for a weekend and the battery ran down and had to be jumped to start the car. The battery is original and car has about 80K miles. Could these problems be caused by a bad battery? I welcome any suggestions as to what might be causing this electrical problem. Thanks in advance for any help.

Sorry I posted this to the wrong forum. I meat to put it in the Bluetooth and Radio forum. I can't seem to find out how to move it. Can the moderator move it for me or tell me how to do it.

Yes, an aging or failing battery could be causing these symptoms. Other makes have similar problems long before the battery fails to start the car. I have long thought that the many of the Genesis electronics issues are battery or bad ground related and the components themselves. Given that the car is pushing 8 years old, the battery is well beyond its expected useful life. I would buy a new battery and reassess.
