  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

33k for the v6 I think is too much. Plus if you put the leather and couple of options will end up costing 36-37k. Hope it will be cheaper.

$33K is the MSRP of the base unit, which includes leather as standard. For the 3.8 V6 model, there are 3 option packages premium, premium plus, and tech packages. The premium package only adds $2K. You should be able to get about $2K off of list, depending on various factors.

Don't expect the price to go down, especially if the economy shows any sign of recovery. A very similar Genesis sells for the equivalent $55K in Korea, and Hyundai is starting off with a low price in the US to get the brand off the ground. There is already a black market for this car where people are buying them in the US and importing them back into Korea for resale.

55k for a coupe in Korea?

Are you talking about the sedan? Because the the magazine talks about the coupe.

I am talking about the price of a Genesis sedan in Korea. But supposedly, because of recent Korean Won currency devaluation against the dollar, it is no longer the equivilent of $55K USD.

if the coupe is anything over $30K or $31K, i believe there are better cars for the price. if it's about 27 or 28 (being optimistic) i'd be all over it.

Than we are not on the same page. 33k for the coupe v6. I thought the leather is option on the coupe not standard.

I have to agree with kortERHorse_281. If it starts above 30k. Hyundai will have problem to sell them. With premium and some other package it will go up like 36-37.

But all these just speculations.

Those are price from Korea. There is some charge to bring it in the country and somebody has to pay for shipping. Now lets hope they don't jack the price up too much.

Actually, prices should be LESS than the Korean versions. All Hyundai models that comes over always had lower prices. The Genesis sedan is the latest example.

18k for the 4 banger in Korea. So you think that will be under 18k?

Not really. That's based on current currency conversion but you never know dollar would get weaker or stronger in a future. U.S dollar got very stronger past 6months about 1.4 times but it could go back anytime. So Hyundai would not risk that. Not to mention all the prices you guys are looking at are before tax. Adding all the options for Turbocharged i4 cost us about $26,000 for us buying one in Korea. Exported models do have less optional parts except for the cruise control, shark antenna ,and rear spoiler (optional as well) as far as we know so far. Some models don't have foglights and other optional components to lower the cost just like what they have been doing for other Hyundai models. My guess is base i4 price will start about $21k adding and all the option would be about $26-27K and Base V6 model starts around $27k, and fully loaded ones are about $30k. That's all before tax tho. Still not bad.

I just driven one of our demo car few weeks ago as soon as I visited Korea. Loved it. It's a lot better in person.
Fell in love with it and can't wait to buy one in U.S.

Yes....on the drivetrain. 60K on everything else...except for body perforation, which I think it 7 yrs...

If you're a second owner, the drivetrain warranty is 60K miles.

It's the same on all Kia vehicles as well. As you know, it's the same company that makes them both.

I am sorry but the only way this will be worth it is if the car is much cheaper than that.

I honestly would be looking for starting in the high teens (16k base) low 20's for the 2.0T Track model, and would not expect much more than 25k for the V6 Track model.

This car has to be CHEAP, or it will not sell the number of units Hyundai is forcasting it will sell.

If any model breaks the 30K model then it is no longer worth it; After all this IS a Hyundai.. I would much rather go buy a lease retrun 370, G35, GTO, G8, 50Z, IS250, WRX, Evo etc. for 30k than buy a Hyundai.. as would 99% of the buyer market.. Only worth if it is cheap as hell.. You would think they learned that from the Tiberon..

You are right on, I will buy the Camaro fully loaded for around 26K for the v6. Hyundia needs to be lower than 26K for the v6 GT.
