  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Extended Warranty or Not?

You simply waited too long to get a good extended warranty deal. Presumably, you bought your car in 2017, an ‘18 model. At this point you have a car with 50,000 miles on it and you are not going to find a “reasonable” price for a warranty.

You’d be better off just saving that money as a rainy day car repair fund. Assuming you bought your car brand new you have a nice 10 year/100,000 mile warranty on the powertrain already, so what’s the big deal? Furthermore, who is to say that you won’t spot a lovely ‘22, or ‘23 model that you just have to have?
If he's outside the time limit for a Hyundai/Genesis service contract, there are other companies... Endurance is another option. Yes, they are expensive but have a good track record

I also wrote up a thread on this, so search my name. I gave a breakdown of coverages, exclusions, prices at the time and hours of operation. Yeah, there are some companies that are only open from 8am to 5pm Eastern time....if you're needing service on the West coast, you'll be waiting an extra day to talk to an agent as they closed at 2pm PST.

I am trying to decide if I want the extended warranty or not? The dealer had a product that I cannot recall the name of, but he said they under wrote for Toyota and GM. It was $1725 for 4 years 100K and covered most everything except maintenance items and normal wear items like brake pads, hoses, wiper blades, etc.

I have also read on this site that I may be able to get a Hyundai warranty for maybe $1500 or so? Is that accurate still these days?

I believe I still have some warranty left since the car was originally purchased about 19 months ago and has 33K miles on it?

What are the prevailing thoughts? I am worried about all of the tech and electronics that it may be worth it.

Sorry I hadn't seen this Thread earlier, but in my case, I paid nearly $4000 (Cdn) for the HYUNDAI Ext Warranty for an additional 6 years-120K miles when I got my 2015 in August 2017, and it's already paid for itself.

The thing is, as I bought it from a dealership in another city than I get it serviced in, it's taken my service dealership 3yrs to acknowledge and respect that mine is Hyundai one. Until this year, every time I brought my car in for a major repair, their initial reaction was "it won't be covered" based on whatever 3rd party they sold. Every time, I had to insist, and they would then look it up, acknowledge that mine was a Hyundai Warranty, and then begrudgingly admit my issues were covered, sometimes to their shock and surprise, but almost always to their chagrin.

I can't remember how much of a premium it was over the 3rd party, but I think it about 10-15%, but thank god the selling Dealer insisted I take it over the 3rd party; I would have been plenty pissed and out several thousand dollars if I had.
