Figured out the iPhone for Hyundai Genesis

Like many of you i had trouble getting the iPhone to work on my new Genesis (and yes I LOVE this car). Read the lengthy tip on how to get it to work on this forum, nothing good was coming of it. then I figured a very simple solution that worked for me.

Plug the special Genesis cable (and yes you do need this $29.95 cable) into the iPhone FIRST and then plug into the car. That's it. That's all it took. It needed to be in the phone before the car so that both sides could recognize it. I had to change the obvious order of plugging it in, and it's worked ever since and I don't have to do it this way every time, just that first time. I can take the iPhone in and out at will.

I'm pretty sure the cable charges the 3G iPhone. I drove to and from Miami (about 60 miles round trip) last night while listening to tunes on my iPhone. I accidentally left it plugged in while attending a concert for more than three hours when I got home I had a full battery.

Yes, it does in fact charge the iPhone or any iPod.

Yes it does say that, but it does work. It has the same "feature" as any item not specifically designed for the iPhone (that you get the warning every time you plug in) and some small quirks (plugging in the phone while on a call sometimes causes music to start playing even though a phone call is active). But in general it works great.

Hello All,
I finally bought an iPhone 3G 16GB to go with my Premium Plus Genesis V6(Saphire Blue/Saddle).
- Bluetooth works great alongside iPod mode. The phone automacally shuts music down gradually so I can answer calls and returns once call has ended.
- It does charge the battery on the iPhone.
- Internet radio works good too, youTube and other iPhone audio apps.

Now I just need a nice holder/cradle so I can put the iPhone out of the center console in order to see who's calling, google maps, etc. Anyone seen any good ones?

Is this the same one that you used?

Purchased the "official" cable from the dealer, the plug goes into both the USB and aux ports. Works absolutely fine.
