  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've now owned my car for one month, and yesterday, I decided to see how well the A/C works in the rear seat area. (We had warm weather yesterday, and today). OK, I had my wife drive while I got in the back seat. The A/C works great in the back, with cool air coming out of the door posts, and the center rear vents.

What impressed me most was all the room in the back seat area. Plenty of leg room. Even more than my Continental. More than any 4Door car I've ever owned. I no longer have to worry that elderly passengers will feel cramped in the back seat. This is a great family car.

There definitely is a lot of room back there. I am single, so I am considering sub-leasing my rear seats out to some homeless people who recently had foreclosure on their homes.

Otherwise, I may just have to hire a chauffeur so I can sit back there myself.

I agree with your assessment. One of the things I did during test drive/review, was to set the driver's seat where it would be comfortable for me at 6'2" tall, (very near the back of the adjustment) and sit in the back seat directly behind me. There are numerous times where adults either similar in size (or even taller) will be riding w/me, and they, too need to be comfortable. I sat in the back seat as described, and felt the comfort level was excellent. While I haven't sat back there since then (I purchased in Aug. 08) seems I remember some additional space for my knees in a cut-away of sorts on the rear of the driver's and passenger seats. Whatever it was, it was fine, and passengers have said they have plenty of room as well.

All I'm missing is the family! Yeah, I'm single....

All's well that ends well!

I am 6'2" and have the driver's seat all the way back. I jumped in the rear passenger seet to test the legroom and was amazed that my knees did NOT touch the seatback. This car is incredible in its roominess!

For lunch yesterday, I took 3 of my buddies on a ride. I'm 6'1", 270 in the driver's seat so my seat was almost all the way back. In the seat behind me was Tim- 6'1", 340lbs. He had ZERO issues with leg room or getting in and out!! The passenger's side guy was about 6', 200 and he couldn't stop jabbering about how nice it was. He only wished for DVD screens on the head rests so they could watch the ELO DVD I was playing to show off the Lexicon!

I had to meet with one of my clients yesterday and the only place we could meet was in a parking lot. I suggested we sit in the back seat of my Genny to sign some papers. After we were done she commented that this car felt almost as nice as her husbands Bently Arnage! She then went on to say that the seats actually feel better and that the car seemed quiter. I said I'm sure its not as luxurious as the Bently but she said the only thing missing was fold down tables from the seat backs and the mini bar. I thought to my self that with the money saved (approx. $210,000) I could probably buy a small bar with lots of booze and plenty of tables!! HA HA HA!

Calvin, let me see if I have this right, you had a rich-man's wife in your backseat for "paper signing" Does that line work often?

What are you talking about? Once you spend about $18 and replace the rear badge with a the Genesis Wings, it is a Bentley.

LOL! If nothing else, adding that rear badge will get most of us as close to a Bentley as we will ever get!

But back to the point . . . . . it does appear to be a considerable amount of room in the back seats of the Genesis. Room that some of us over 6' tall wouldn't mind having up front!

lol, anyway...
one of the main reasons I'm getting a genesis is because of the legroom, both in the front and in the back. Im 6"4 pushing onto 6"5, and the lexus IS and even ES is so uncomfortable for me. Once in the driver's seat i cant even get out. The Genesis is perfectly comfortable, and I wont break my knees if i get into a fender bender.

Yes! Especially when she's as old as my grandmother! Ha Ha Ha!

This is the reason I'd be interested in a Genesis.

I think it's a damn shame that so few modern cars offer enormous back seats.

This IS a big car. Certainly bigger than I would've liked! And much, much bigger than my previous vehicles - a Ford Contour notorious for its tiny back seat, and a BMW 325i that's not exactly known for interior room efficiency. And I'm not a 6-footer, and know of only one 6-footer in my social circles - so it's certainly more room than I need.

I'm not complaining, however. Even though I rarely have anyone in the back seat (usually I drive alone), between the great price and the decent fuel economy, the Genesis still works for me. It also helps that I don't even have to bother with premium fuel again.

Now, if Hyundai will do another Genesis derivative, this time a smaller, sportier 4-door to go up against the BMW 3 and the Infiniti G, then I'll really be interested.

Well, it's great how cars got more efficient for interior space as time goes on. My brother had a used 1993 Mercury Grand Marquis, which is at least 16 inches longer than the Genesis. I had a 2001 Chevy Impala, which is 4 inches longer than the Genesis. The Genesis has more total leg room than either of them.

In defense of Detroit, the trunk of the Impala is almost 19 cubic feet, comfortably larger than the trunk of the Genesis. The Mercury Grand Marquis' trunk is 21 cubic feet, when you opened the back it looked like you could store an economy car in it.

But if you really need tons of storage space, you should get something besides a sedan. So I think Hyundai's decision to favor more cabin space and a slightly smaller trunk is wise.
