  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Finally

Not to cause alarm, but I had symptoms like these (mine is touch screen, not DIS) and wound up with a new head unit. It's an expensive repair and fortunately mine was covered by extended warranty (happened after 36 months).

Thanx

Fortunately mine is happening after only 3.5 weeks of new ownership:cool: maybe, but disappointing. Only 4 years 11 1/4 months til my intial warranty ends:D

Well, then you're in good shape. They should fix it without question.

I too have been having problems with my stereo. When I turn on HD, the stereo starts behaving badly. When you start the car, the stereo is void of sound. You can enable the audio only by using the Seek function. The manual tuning has no effect on the audio.

It also doesn't actually go into HD mode. The "enable text" portion of the stereo works as I am seeing updated text information for the channel that is playing, but HD never turns on. There are several HD stereo stations where I live and I am unable to access them.

Mine will also be going to the dealership for repairs (or updating the software if that is the fix.)

Don't want to add further concern but unless they've changed the warranty, you only get 36 months for the audio/visual system, it's not a concern for quite a while yet but check your warranty to be sure you have the coverage that you think you do.

Good luck on Tuesday.

Thanks RMW. As mentioned, the brand new car is approx. one month old so I know I am fine. What a pain driving with a radio that cannot keep its channel, no bluetooth for the phone, and cannot tell where my HVAC controls are set. No temps are showing, and I have to by trial and error figure where the air is coming from. NO HD radio in Canada so not a concern for me but I do enjoy my XM, and who knows what mode I am in XM1 XM2 and XM3, which station I am on, and BTW, the round mouse in the center console is not changing channels either. What a mess.
I did NOT get a call from my Sales rep so I am unsire as to whether he booked me an appt., but I am heading off there tomorrow morning, and telling those service writers to book me in next.

I'll let you know tomorrow evening.

Good luck an keep us posted to your outcome. Sounds like new head unit would be the fix but another poster on here some time ago posted that they found the main ground wire to be at fault with similar issues.

Dealer just called. Wires and fuses are fine. Ordering a new NAV unit. Won't be in til next Tuesday. Good thing tho, I dont have to see that silly screen when you start up the engine, for another week.

I see from a later post that they have ordered a new head unit for you. Odds are you will be fine after that. Although there have been many reports of these units failing, the odds of you having two fail on you should be pretty darn low. It is a major disappointment though that these units are only covered for 36 months instead of the full five years. These things are ridiculously expensive to replace after the warranty is over. Anyway, hope all goes well with the new one.

Another thing that is kinda annoying is that some guy in my neighbourhood now has a 2015 Genesis 5.0. There goes my uniqueness. For the last six years I've been the only guy with a Genesis in our subdivision, now this guy comes along and shows me up.

"Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery"

Chances are that he saw your Genesis, liked it, and went out to look at them.

Our street has 30 houses. We have the RSPEC and a 2014 Tucson, my neiighbour has a 2008 Tucson, my other neighbour has a 2013 Tucson, 4 houses down has a late model Accent, down the street has a 2010 Accent and 2008 Tucson, and the list goes on. My neighbour's brother who now lives in Monteal has an Elantra, my in-laws have a 6 yr old Elantra, sister-in-law has a Santa Fe, and my wife's aunt has an Elantra, and whatever else is on m street.

See, I get an 07 Veracruz, and everybody goes Hyundai. Good thing they are all too cheap to buy a Genesis!:p

In the meantime, I cannot get lost cause I have no Nav to lead me the right way. I cannot hold a radio station and all I hear is hissing, so no 17 speaker Lexicon to listen too. And the bluetooth does not work, so no speakerphone. Did I hear someone tell me I should have bought an Audi A6? lol. No, I am happy with the Genny

You still have the fastest car on the block.....well, maybe not.... cheers! :D

uh-YA:p

There is a 5 litre Mustang GT with a modded exhaust, so it'll be close, otherwise, I am KING!;)

Yeah there is no question that Hyundai is gaining market share. We moved into our current home about ten years ago and there were no Hyundai's on the street that I recall. Now, like you said about your area, there are three Santa Fe's, one next door, one across the street and down a house, another two houses across and up, then there are a few elantra's and a couple of Tucson's around the bends in the road, not to mention all the Sonata's.

Overall, the Honda CRV is still the most common thing on four wheels around here but we have our share of Lexus, Audi and BMW's around as well. One of the nice things about having the Genesis is being unique. Well I was until the guy one street over showed up with a 2015 5.0 Genesis. But like CraigT says above, I'll chose to take that as flattery. HaHa

I am happy for Hyundai, and the progress they have made over the past 10 years. Now I would be happier if they sent me a Genesis chrome license plate, and hurry up my head unit.

Returned to dealer today (Tuesday) when the parts shipment arrives. Service writer went to inspect delivery, and you guessed it, no head unit  Asks me when I was in with the problem, and I said a week ago Monday. He said it will be in next Tuesday, or Wednesday cause next Monday is a provincial holiday. That tells me that the dumba$$e$ did not order the part, and now I have another week of epileptic(?) flashes on my nav screen, and the constant hiss from the speakers. Another week of no 17 speaker Lexicon stereo, another week of no free 3 month trial of XM, and no music off the hard drive, and no nav or bluetooth phone.

Should have listened to the wife:o and bought an Audi A6, or even a 1986 Pontiac Sunfire whose radio, along with a portable Garmin nav unit, would be working!

2 weeks and no radio, nav, bluetooth to talk to clients when driving. HVAC is screwy I think because of the same problem, but kinda works okay. Part should be in Tuesday, or maybe Wednesday but hood getting repainted cause I noticed some small scratches down to primer a few days after delivery. zdealer is paying 3/4 of cost. Car goes for repaint Tuesday/Wednesday this week, and then off to dealer to get head unit replaced, and hopefully it is that and not the amp. And the car does not even have 1400 miles on it! Better get all done this week so I can be happy. In the meantime, you can view the pics of my car, kind of,ini the thread my little photoshoot, and see how beautiful the outside of my car looks. Thank you.

No worries, in a few days it'll look as good as new :)

Brought car in today to start paint job. Should be done by early tomorrow afternoon and dropped off at dealer. Head unit came in today so when they get the car back, they will install the head unit and do an update. HOPEFULLY the friggin thing worx!

Good luck CLASSYRSPEC... Keep us posted...
