  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

First V8 for sale at Carmax?

I'm not sure if it's kosher to use this forum to sell a Genesis, but I thought I'd give it a shot. If this doesn't get zapped by a moderator, prospective Genesis buyers who live in Northern California might want read on...

Rather than wait and see if the 2010 Genesis will come with a softer suspension — which for me would make it the "perfect car" — I have decided to unload my Platinum/Black 4.6 with Tech before it depreciates any further.

Since I purchased the car in Jan. of this year it has spent all of its life in my garage when not on the road. It has 2,800 miles on the odometer and is in perfect condition with nary a blemish. I had the dealer change the oil last month, even though the mileage didn't call for doing so. The car has been re-badged with Wings on the trunk lid, steering wheel and center caps.

If anyone in Northern California is looking for a low-mileage 4.6 with the Tech package that is in virtually new condition with five months of free XM and Nav/Traffic remaining, send me a private message by clicking on my user name above and I'll reply with my phone number. I'm willing to take a $9K hit on the OTD price I paid for it, so I want $33K (firm) for the car. If there are no takers in the next day or two, I plan to list the car on Vehix and Craig's List.

<sigh> I wish I hadn't bought my V6, and that I lived closer!

I am surprised we don't have a classified section... I think we should. I would have bought my used V6 from someone on this board if someone was offering. I hate giving the dealer any more money than I have to.

Wow, Bilmat - I'm not trying to kill a good deal here for someone, but I'd list it for a bit more than that as a starting point. I've been offered $33k for my V6 w/ tech with 1500 miles. Maybe I should have taken it. LOL

Truth is, I hate to play the "Here's my offer game," which is why I added "(firm)" after the price. On the other hand, if it's necessary for me to list the car on Vehix and Craig's List, I plan on asking $35K with $33K being my bottom line because I'll most likely be dealing with potential car buyers who insist on haggling, even if the original asking price is a helluva deal.

By posting the car on this forum, anyone who reads the posting will realize that $33K is an excellent price for a nearly new 4.6/Tech with only 2,800 miles on the clock. Besides, if one of the forum members is interested in the car, they will already be familiar with most of its features and amenities. So that I can sell the car and move on, $33K is a price I decided I can live with. Life is too short to do otherwise.

Fair enough - I hear you from a "life is too short" standpoint. Good luck - I may be heading in that direction as well soon.
