  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

First valet service

I was planning to explain you where the Negative clamp was but I remembered this thread. Take a look at it. Sometimes one picture worth more than a million words.

That's for the G70. He has a G80. It's completely different if it's like my 2016 sedan, which I'm assuming it is.

..... I almost tried to jump it off the battery terminals, but then read about the service port under the hood. Never did find a good clamp spot for the negative, but found a bolt and used it, it worked. If anyone has a tip on that, I'm all ears. ......
The negative jumping post is under a round pry off access door on the passenger side engine compartment cover, near the air filter. The access door has a circle with a negative sign in it.

Thanks guys, I found it on the G80. I almost gave up looking then saw it right under my eyes. These two pics might help others find it. I couldn't pop open the cover; didn't have a screwdriver handy.

Yes it felt odd jumping a new car with under 100 miles on the odometer! I almost tried to jump it off the battery terminals, but then read about the service port under the hood. Never did find a good clamp spot for the negative, but found a bolt and used it, it worked. If anyone has a tip on that, I'm all ears.

Thanks, and let us know how your service experience goes...
So about to have first concierge service - I contacted my GEM who replied having passed my request for apptmt to the Service Mgr. His name and contact info included. Had no follow up from either so resent email - then had a call and apptmt set up. The rep asked if I needed valet service - yes - it is arranged but he said not sure if it would be G70 or G80 left with me.
So coming to get my G70 on Tuesday, we will see what happens.

FWIW, I took my G80 in for a complimentary window tint and they gave me a new G70 loaner. It was a 2.0, but had a nice interior, HUD, etc.

This was Genesis of Plano (Huffines), north of Dallas.

Brought my car in for an oil change, shaking brakes at freeway speeds and rough downshifts. Got a 2020 3.3 loaner in what looks like maybe the new silver? And it has a brown interior which is actually really nice. No ventilated seats though, noticed that right away. It’s got a sunroof but no HUD so I’m guessing it’s the elite trim

These brown interiors are really starting to grow on me. Apparently starting the 2nd quarter-century of my life has turned me into an old man

Today got my G70 back via concierge/valet after its first service appointment. All good, no charge invoice shows work performed:
- Recall upgrade ECU for Coasting Improvement
- Recall upgrade ECU for Driving Performance Improvement
- Genesis Service 1 incl oil change (Pennzoil Platinum Full Synthetic), Cabin air filter, Oil filter,
- wash/detailing
Overall happy with Ajax Genesis - initial difficulty in setting appointment resolved. The loaner given me was a 2019 G80 3.8. I was interested in trying out a G80 so this gave me a day to see how it stacked up. Certainly more trunk and backseat room and hp compared to my 2.0T Prestige. To be honest, preferred my G70 for looks and drive. Found the 80 missing a few things my 70 had (these may have been avail in the 3.5 or 5 versions) and it looked more traditional (analog clock!?), dash and centre console setup & PRND shifter. It did have a power trunk however which was nice.

So my initial concerns on service and eligibility (as a used Car purchase) were all allayed. I am happy with dealer, Ajax Genesis, the GEM Jerome and my service adviser, Anthony.

Everytime I read those pleasant and wonderful maintenance stories I ask myself. Why Genesis USA can't be half good as Genesis Canada? The answer is..... because of the fu****ing retarded, unprofessional dealer network we have here. Simple as that.
Sorry but I needed to blown off some steam.

Good to hear a good service from a dealer. The analog clock is actually a touch of class. Luxury cars have them such as Rolls Royce, Maserati, and Lincoln. You won't find one in your Civic or Impala.

I like the analog clock because I can glance in the car at any time and see what time it is. Always on.

Just had my car dropped back off and the loaner picked up. I wish everyone could get the service Ive received so far from my US dealer. Full synthetic continues to be an 'upcharge' but so far I havent had to pay for it. Twice now Ive gotten it comped from the service manager. Brake vibration was confirmed and they turned my rotors, along with referencing the TSB thats out right now for brake shuddering. Hopefully this is a permanent fix. Rough downshifts: could not replicate, dont blame them for this as I mostly just asked them to look into it to pull codes and get it documented. No codes stored in the transmission, all good to go.

All in all Im VERY happy with my dealerships service department and I hope they keep it up.

Andy, from your description of the 2019 G80 loaner you had, it was the base model with the base 3.8 engine - same car I bought!

Was it white?

Loved mine in my prior car, an Infiniti, and was glad to see it in the G80 as well. Plus the N/S/E/W in the rear view mirror.

I got my second service done at a nearby PA dealer instead of at Burns in NJ. They did what I asked them to do (oil change using the full synthetic mobil1 I brought, although they overfilled by <0.5 quart, replace cabin air filter). G70 2.0T sport loaner was provided. They also reset the tire pressures to correct psi after rotation. Looks like I will stick with them for the remaining 2 years.

Sounds like it was the base.

Sounds like it was the base model. It was silver.

Glad you had a good experience with them I am expecting to use the valet service a lot hopefully the dealer near me is decent with it as well

I had my first service last month at Schaumburg Hyundai. I personally dont like anyone driving my car so didnt try the valet service, made appt on hyundai site, arrived on time everything went smoothly. Nothing bad.. nothing good.. just typical experience.

My only gripe was they didnt ask if I wanted my car washed, at Acura they always asked me if i wanted it washed and vacuumed. Again I'm anal, I dont want anyone else washing my car. One dirty towel and swirl city on your paint job. So was a little annoyed when it was brought back washed. I politely told them that I prefer my car not be washed and I should've been asked I was polite about it and they apologized.

I am like you. Don't want them to drive it or wash it. I make a deal with them so I get quick service while I wait in exchange for no valet.
