  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Had an exceptional first valet service on my '19 G70. Called service department at dealer and set date and time, 2 days later, for flatbed transport to their facility. I was anticipating an issue since I am 100 miles away but to my surprise, they even offered a loaner which I denied since it was only overnight and I have another vehicle. Car was delivered back 24 hours with service done and in perfect condition. Best part...no charge. Gotta love it!

Flat bed?? I'm shocked they would pay for that. I expected it would always be someone who would drive the loaner to your house in exchange for taking your car back to the dealer. Flat beds cost more money (more time, more gas, driver with a commercial truck license vs some kid).
Anyone else have this done?

Genesis recommends a flatbed for awd.

I had the same reaction reading that.. seems over the top honestly... But hey if they'll do it...

Over the top is what we have been asking for, isn’t it? So when we see it we should be pleased. It would be nice to know the name of the dealer.

Concierge for me is a "nice to have". Flat bed service is another level. Not something I would put on my top 10 list. Besides, people are going to see Genesis cars on a flat bed and think they are breaking down!

Are they part of a luxury auto group?

Genesis of Westlake in SoCal will offer similar service because they already do for their luxury brands.

Wish my local Genesis would offer a flatbed!

Not part of a larger luxury group of brands to my knowledge. They are not even a stand alone store. Hyundai-Genesis dealer.

sounds like a great service experience for the OP. nice.

my car was delivered to my door on a flatbed for initial delivery. i was hoping for the glass enclosed trailer that they have in TO and EDM, but Vancity didn't get the glass trailer. the fancy trailer would have added a bit of wow factor to the delivery and impressed the neighbours, but whatever.

all valet services are done with a service rep driving a loaner and taking the owned car back to service, then opposite when the service is complete. i've never heard of a flatbed for services - not sure how sustainable that is.

that said, i won't be taking Genesis up on their valet offering regardless if it is driven or hauled on a flatbed. the dealer is only a 10 minute drive, and i don't trust the lot numbskull not to lynch my clutch. same as how i always decline the 'hand' car wash. yeah, right. those lot boys might as well use steel wool...

Sure, if the car is actually broken down, a flatbed is nice and recommended for AWD. My point was that if it was just a normal service and the car was drivable, a flatbed is a surprising choice. Never heard of that being done for valet service.
Also, I agree with the comment that seeing Genesis vehicles on flatbeds doesn't look good for those who see it and don't realize it's just going in for service. Bad optics as they say (for the company obviously, not you).
Don't get me wrong, I would prefer not to have some stranger driving (beating on?) my car, which is why I haven't used the valet service yet.

Agreed, I don't take them up on the wash offer either. The last time I had that done with my 3 series, I got the car back with windows that were much dirtier than before, all streaked with the remains of an obviously dirty wet rag, never mind what they could do to your paint. 😵

Given that it's 200 miles round trip to your dealer, maybe they flatbedded it because they couldn't rack up that many miles on your car? Still amazing. I didn't think they would do valet service if you were over 50(?) miles away. Not sure where I got that, lol.
In any case, a great deal for you!

50 miles max was also my understanding but when I purchased the car, I made them put in writing that they would valet the car via truck and leave me a loaner. Now putting it in writing and but then following through, was my concern. Optics aside, I am more than pleased.

My dealer service manager told me (caveats abound) that he has owners in many places that use his service (he did not specify flatbed). He mentioned one location 125 miles distant. When I asked why his dealer rather than one of several closer to the customer he said "They prefer our service".

Keep in mind I likely paid about more than I should have.

Why would Genesis send a tow truck they don't recommend?

Yes, isn’t it a bit ludicrous to haul a vehicle 200 miles for an oil change and a car wash (no doubt a wasted effort after a 100 mile return haul)?
