  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Folks buying a 2013 or 2014 Genesis, don't get the sunroof wind deflector...

I'd wager that most folks who open their roof lids are smokers.

Wha wha wha what? People who use their sunroof are smokers? Dude, what are you smoking? It's a sunroof, people like to open it up an drive around when it's sunny. I would just love to hear the basis for the sunroof=smoker logic. Lighten up, Francis.

Probably the most uneducated statement I've seen on forums in quite some time.

I agree, might as well say that all Genesis owners are smokers because the car comes with an ashtray and cigaret lighter

I use the sunroof all the time (between April and October). I'm not a smoker nor gaseous. It's provides natural light and a feeling of opennesst. Even at night I open it.

My first car (an '89 Pontiac Firebird Formula) had T-tops. I'd manually take them off (and back on) multiple times a day.

I also use (open) the sunroof all the time. It's a great option when it may be to cool to open a window. Passengers that have rode in the back of my Gen, prefer the open sunroof to the open window as well. Oh, and I don't smoke.

Frankly, I had always been under the impression that a sunroof/moonroof was/is a popular option.

I imagine it's popular among people who like them. Me, personally, not so much.

Newby (just purchased Genesis and joined forum) here with a question?
If I want to have the dealer remove the add-on roof wind deflector, from my black 2013 R-Spec, does it leave holes in the roof that need to be filled and patched/painted?
Appreciate the wisdom of this forum.

No, no holes are left. It's simply held on to the sunroof opening lip with two clips.

It kills me how some people on here seem to know what everyone else wants or uses in their cars??? If you don't like a sunroof, by all means don't use it, but don't assume that it's a useless option to the rest of us. I for one use mine anytime the weather permits. Its open more than its closed, and does nothing to hurt the structural integrity of this car. No deflector for me, it's reasonably quiet as is. And I'm a non smoker, imagine that.

Who opens the sunroof?

All the time, except from October to April. Kinda cold and snowy. Love the sun, and angle me head into the sun whenever possible. I rarely use the air conditioner, but i do like the cooled driver's seat

Thanks for the advice.
I removed it in 2 minutes!
Anyone around here want it?

three pages of dribble about the pros and cons of a sunroof because the OP mentioned that his loose deflector wobbled in the wind? while off topic, anyone manage to get an engine tune for this car yet?

This is from a post I made in the appearance portion of the forum.

Mine came with it already on the car. Had to be dealer installed. There was NO tape. So after almost 2 years, I decided I didn't want it anymore. Removed 2 screws/clamps and it came right off.

Now after 3 hours of using Optimum Compound II, followed by Optimum Polish II, and then carnuba, most of the marks are gone. The rest that is left is too deep into the paint. My teeeerie (that's theory for you non-Louisiana types) is that dirt/grit gets up under the rubber seal and it vibrates itself into the paint when running or washing.

So -- DON'T DO/USE IT........

i generally dont get this option on any car i get for the simple fact that i dont like how it looks. i did have one on a 2013 Sonata Limited and didnt have any problems with that. still looked like crap

Mi deflector came in a case inside the trunk. Took it out and is laying in a closet since then.

It came with my 13 3.8 v6 b4 i gave it back...never had one issue..thinking that u had either defective part or unsuccessful install

Where did u position the brackets...and where on sunroof do they clip on to...do i just have to mess with it a bit? And would 2 ppl make the job any easier? i.e holding in place while lining up?
