  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

For reference, I'm talking about these lights. There are a couple of different purchasing options out there:

http://www.allthecar.com/shop/index.asp?c1=4&c2=15&c3=4&no=3488&m=v
http://www.ebay.com/itm/181584699262?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

The one on eBay includes a conversion cable that I don't see mentioned with the Korean Auto Imports listing. For anyone who has done this conversion, was the conversion cable necessary?

Thanks!

I have done it and yes the conversion cable is required. Buy from RPMTRADE on eBay. He was great to deal with.

Thanks Schindawg. You're the one whom I got the idea from. Orders placed.

Hey everyone,

First time poster here, long time lurker. I own a beautiful 2015 Genesis 5.0 Ultimate in the Montecito Blue\Beige color combo and this modification would just be perfect for me.

I plan on ordering through eBay (RPMTrade), however I'm not sure where I would go to get these headlights installed.

Pardon my naiveté, however, would this something that any Hyundai dealership could install? Or would I need to find a performance shop?

Thanks for your help!

Hi Shah and welcome!! I'm planning on having mine done at my dealer. From their perspective, it should be a drop-in replacement for the stock headlight (with the cable of course). They would have the shop manuals around for removing the bumper, etc.

Schindawg - curious: is one projector low bean and one high beam or are they both on when head lights are on and doing the same thing (on for low beam and shutter raised for high beam). If so, I'd expect even better visibility with two projectors on versus the one projector on the USA/Canada models?

Outside projectors are low beam. When high beams are turned on, all four projectors are on. However, the cutoffs/shutters for the low beam are fixed. That said, with all four projectors on it does provide better visibility vs. stock. You will need to do some aiming though as my high beams were too high. It is a drop in replacement and anyone with average skills can do this. I had it done in my garage in about 3-4 hours.

Thanks - does the bumper need to come off to install?

Yes, the bumper needs to come off, but not completely, if that makes sense. All the nuts and fastners need to come off, and then you basically lift it up and away a few inches, slap the new lights in and put the bumper back. It's discussed in a different thread.

I would have happily paid for this option from the factory..the asking price is steep but I gotta have them, the switchback LED's are sick..ordered the lights and foglights for a complete one and done install

Thanks. Last question (for now :)) - does the auto high beam function still work with the dual projectors? I'd think yes, but just wanted to verify?

I can't edit my original post, but I just wanted to strongly endorse rpmtrade as the vendor. I've had some irregularities with other vendors.

Yep! It works perfectly.

Any concerns on passing inspection with these headlights since they have white amber front sidemarker lamps/reflectors? As best I can tell, side marker lights must be amber in the USA. Could create an unexpected issue at inspection time?

Replaced my amber lights with white ones on my 4runner and had it that way for nearly 10 years. Never had an issue. Past performance does not ensure future outcomes obviously.

Just as an FYI, my order sat in customs at O'Hare for 4 days before finally being "accepted." I'm not sure if that's excessively long time or not relative to most import items from nations that we have a free-trade agreement with, but it sure seems that way when you're waiting on it. In any case, if I'm lucky they'll come early enough tomorrow to get them installed tomorrow afternoon. The only thing left after that will be the radar detector hardwires.

MMM that looks awesome. Now I have to figure out a way to transfer $2k over to my PayPal without my wife finding out about it.

Let us know how it goes. I'm highly considering buying these once I organize my finances and can find a shop to install it.

You can always open a new credit card. ;)

So I'm at the dealer now and the headlights are a direct drop-in, but on the adapter cable there is a loose red wire that is used to power the high-beams. Since separate high-beams don't exist in the US version, the red wire has to be powered for the high-beams to work. Schindawg, do you know where your shop connected the power wire for the high-beam?
