If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

For Owners for Non Genesis Brand Genesis Models - Service Note

It seems you are missing the point of the conversation. Obviously you can take any car to any dealer and they may work on it but that is not what we are talking about. The OP got a statement from Genesis that he should take his pre-2017 model to a Hyundai dealer to have worked on and not a Genesis dealer because it is a Hyundai. The poster today was commenting on that, saying they were going to drive across state to the only Genesis dealer but given that Genesis is saying that a Hyundai dealer should work on the car he won't. I believe he was referring to receiving the type of treatment expected from a luxury brand but the statement from Genesis says they don't consider pre-2017 models to be theirs so he may not receive that treatment from a Genesis dealer.
I think the point it he expects to be pampered and the Hyundai dealer won't. The Genesis dealer is not going to do the "free" service included, but should still give him good service and take his money.

The original dealer did not pressure him because they had a package deal for one price. Many shops do that and often sell products and services you don't really need. Maybe the original dealer had separate urinals for Genesis and Elantra owners.

This complaint is filled with a lot of hot air...no substance to it whatsoever. Since when did dealers rotate tires for free? And what are theses so-called formerly free “components of Genesis scheduled maintenance?”
I don’t think I said that these services were free. They were simply listed as part of the scheduled maintenance for the car (which I think you can google, but I can say that they are posted by my dealer). Maybe I was just buying s package,Ike the other poster here says. It didn’t really matter. I used to show up and ask for that interval’s service package, they would do all the things listed and charge a price that was nearly the same for each interval. I didn’t ask for specific services, just what was listed for that interval. That included tire rotation, oil changes, etc. depending on the Interval. Now, the dealer does it a la carte and the price is not predictable. Sometimes, they tell me that I don’t need what is listed as part of the recommended interval service, but instead I need something else (which routinely costs more). This is all pretty typical for most cars, just not what I had experienced until mid last year with my Genesis. I was not aware that the great service I was getting was related to the spin off of the brand, and assumed that Hyundai planned to offer better service with Genesis from the start, since it is in a different market than their other cars. Now that I’ve seen what was told to OP, it makes sense that my experience has changed. By buying the identical car a few months early, I am not considered eligible for anything but standard Hyundai service. That just does not make my car feel very premium.

A few months earlier at the same price as it was a few months later ? You said it yourself. You have a non Genesis brand. You did not pay the 2017+ Genesis price premium and are not entitled to whatever Genesis promises.

Magical thinking.

I doubt a Genesis dealer would turn down doing paid service on a 2015-2016 Hyundai Genesis model, But for warranty service they will because Genesis won't reimburse for a non-branded product, which makes absolute sense.

but again a 2015-2016 is a Hyundai, so why would one expect premium service from the now (attempting to be) Tier 1 Genesis Brand, that's akin to buying a Toyota and expecting Lexus to service and give you the Lexus experience for your "lower branded" car.

Hyundai is Hyundai
Genesis is Genesis

regardless of how they screwed up the 2017 rollout, they are now 2 separate brands with 2 separate warranty departments, 2 separate finance departments, and soon 2 separate dealer franchise agreements.

I really don't see what all the fuss is, I don't care if I get "pampered" at a dealership, all I care is that the warranty is honored, the work gets done, and I get a loaner so I can go about my day. All the rest is gravy and I can take it or leave it.

I guess I spent too many years owning lower end GM cars where the service is abysmal and the customer care is non-existent to give a rats-behind about "premium" treatment.

You are really confused. The bottom line is that if you don’t like your dealer, go to another one. And, start paying attention to EXACTLY which services your car genuinely needs. You complained that services were now more expensive. Which services? Obviously, as your car gets older, maintenance costs will increase and new services will be needed.
