I think the point it he expects to be pampered and the Hyundai dealer won't. The Genesis dealer is not going to do the "free" service included, but should still give him good service and take his money.It seems you are missing the point of the conversation. Obviously you can take any car to any dealer and they may work on it but that is not what we are talking about. The OP got a statement from Genesis that he should take his pre-2017 model to a Hyundai dealer to have worked on and not a Genesis dealer because it is a Hyundai. The poster today was commenting on that, saying they were going to drive across state to the only Genesis dealer but given that Genesis is saying that a Hyundai dealer should work on the car he won't. I believe he was referring to receiving the type of treatment expected from a luxury brand but the statement from Genesis says they don't consider pre-2017 models to be theirs so he may not receive that treatment from a Genesis dealer.
The original dealer did not pressure him because they had a package deal for one price. Many shops do that and often sell products and services you don't really need. Maybe the original dealer had separate urinals for Genesis and Elantra owners.
