  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I wanted to add a final post of my experience with owning a Hyundai Genesis 3.8 sedan, 2010, purchased new, and after 80,000 miles forced to sell.
After about 6 years of driving this wonderful car, I had planned on purchasing nothing but Hyundai and KIA products in the future. The 2010 Genesis was good up until recently when I traded it in due to the engine oil mixing with the coolant, apparently a telltale sign of future major failure and expense. I paid $38,000 for this car, after 6 years had to sell it to a dealer for $5,000. That's over $6,000 per year to own this car!
I had planned on replacing it within a year or so with another Hyundai product but instead swore off any future Hyundai purchases and purchased a 2016 Honda Accord. The Accord is a new 2016 updated and changed, flawless car that looks and drives great, lots of room, and gets from 35-40 mpg, without driving it easy! I know from experience that Honda's are pretty much trouble free, look and drive great, and are good on fuel,...things important to me.
After being a huge fan of Hyundai for 6 years, I can no longer say I would recommend buying one. I was greatly disappointed in Hyundai and had planned on purchasing a new Genesis and Hyundai SUV.

Cool story bro, shoulda bought a v8 G2 though waaaaaaay better car than Accord. Also you probably would have been much better off to sell your car private party, they always lowball unless the sale price is really inflated to begin with.

I'd just say a better placement for it would have been in the 1st gen forum. Not many people would be looking in the 2nd gen forum for a review of a 1st gen sedan. Sorry that you had the issues that you have.

I enjoyed my 1st gen. If I wouldn't have gotten a good deal on the 2nd gen when mine was in for a blown motor due to lack of oil and no notice, I'd still be driving my 1st gen, but with a brand new motor.

Yes, your post is.

Learn to read - Huddleston told the OP he was in wrong forum which was accurate and needed no clarification. Mark felt the need to quote Huddleston and correct it to "wrong section of the forum" which was unnecessary!

Back to the OP, it sounds like you liked the car and ownership experience until you had an engine issue and then were unhappy with the resale values of your car. I'm not sure how you can really slam Hyundai of that as defects happen (why people buy extended warranties) and resale is not in their control.

10 year 100K power train warranty ???? that should have been covered
Might have been better to try for a fix
Honda

I don't agree. Here what it says about the forums:

Genesis Motors Forum > Hyundai Genesis Sedan Forums - 3.8 V6, 4.6 V8, 5.0 R-Spec V8 > General 2015-2016 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Discussion

So according to the above, it is the correct forum, but should not be in the "General 2015-2016 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Discussion" area.

If someone told me that I was posting in the wrong forum, and I had not posted a lot, I would have probably thought that I had the wrong website or something. So to make the member feel not so bad about his error (that many others have made), I clarified that it was the correct forum, but should not be in the General 2015-2016 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Discussion area.

In that respect, I think my post was necessary, and I don't regret it and I will not retract it.

LOL! I thought that was weird too. Mark is calling everyone out.

OP - Accord vs Genesis, FWD vs RWD, apples to oranges. These are just not the same cars to even begin to compare. I'm guessing you want longevity and possible resale value? Would have loved to give you a ride in our G2 before you made that mistake, err purchase.

Also, an Accord is your daily commuter. We have one, the drive is not engaging at all. It literally just gets you from A to B, unlike the Genesis, which will get you there with a smile on your face. The Accord does look good, but pales in comparison to the new Genesis. By the way, take a closer look at the tail lights of your G1, does it resemble anything? I think it looks a lot like the new 2015/2016 Accord tail lights.

Like others have said, you should've sold privately. However, I can see why you would sell it to the dealer, the process is much smoother and easier.

No one asked you to retract it - but thanks for validating my original post...

As pointed out above, you are the one who needs to learn to read. As ever, if you would simply take your own advice, the world would be a better place.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I think the OP made a mistake selling the car at that price to the dealer, according to the KBB a 2010 Genesis 3.8 has a $8700 trade in value and $10,000 Private Party sale value. Repairing the engine would cost nothing because engine's failure is included on the 10 years/100,000 miles powertrain warranty.

Puhlease... if you are being honest, correcting someone for saying the OP posted in the wrong "forum" was petty, at best - anyone with half a brain knew what Huddleston was saying... and I could care less what you think...

The OP probably didn't know, since he has only posted 10 times. I was just trying to help him understand better.

Easy guys, it's just a Honda rep trying to convert us all to ricers

Pretty foolish to dump a car with a 100,000 powertrain warranty because it needs a new engine. What are you smoking?

Yeah, I was wondering why he "had" to sell it to the dealer for that price - I'm guessing they didn't have a gun to his head.

I think you're trying to say you 'couldn't care less' what I think - see ,you need to read even your own posts more carefully.

But clearly you do care, as you took the time to respond before, and will take the time to respond again. In your mind you are the forum cop and we must all respect your authority.
