If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Front License Plate

I like the lower front license plate bracket. What I really would like to find is a plastic bracket with thick sides that can be cut the the profile of the Genesis at a lower mounting location (i.e. contoured to the lower part of the Genesis).

Anyone with an idea of where I can get one?

I would be fine modifying a bracket intended for another vehicle.

Genesis2015: That looks good! I think I'll go that low on mine too. I ordered personalized plates, before I even have the car. hehe The car will be here tomorrow. The plates probably in 3 weeks. So I won't mess with it until then.

I bet you feel like a kid on Christmas Eve :D

LOL... Yes I do. Thrilled to pieces! ;)

Guys: I tried to install the bracket this evening, but the 1" screws included are not long enough. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong...Ugh! I'll try it again tomorrow with 1.25" screws.

I think I have decided to install mine as low as possible. I tried an aftermarket bracket and it will not work. I am probably going to mount the factory bracket upside down and modify it a little, unless I come up with a better idea. I have until November 18th to figure this out.

Hi guys,
I was attempting to do the lower plate install. (an epic fail)

Hopefully someone can help me get the dayuum bracket mounted.

I thought this would be fricken easy to do, but it's not! (not for me at least)

I scratched the crap out of my grill trying to get the screws to go in. Not to mention I can't figure out which screws go in which hole. I could not get any screw to go into the grill. As if it was made from solid steel. Which I know it's not. I am sooooo frustrated & pissed. The only saving grace is the plate will cover the scratches. If I ever figure it out. Ugh...

There are 2 big holes on each side of the bracket & 2 hole markings at the top. WTH am I doing wrong?

This has totally ruined my night.

I really, really wanted to lower the plate, but may be forced to install in the middle. Either way I still can't get the screws to penetrate the grill. WTF! I tried a phillips screwdriver & a cordless drill. Neither is working for me. Clearly its operator error, but I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. I can't believe there are no instructions for us dummies.

I am sooooo mad I could scream. (well actually I DID already)

Any input world be greatly appreciated. Pretty please. :-)

Thanks a lot

Kim

I recommend marking the holes and predrilling them.

I have been looking through parking lots for front license plate mounts that would be easily modifiable for the lower plate mount on the Genesis. The best one I have found so far is from a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It has an MSRP of $22 and my local Jeep dealer has it in stock. It is about $17 on the web, but I think I would prefer to go and see it in person. In addition, If I get the local bracket home and study it (before modifying it) and decide it will not work, it is returnable.

The Jeep part number is 68144511AC.

Here is a good picture of it: http://www.ebay.com/itm/JEEP-Grand-Cherokee-license-plate-frame-bracket-/161449452973?hash=item25972325ad

It is less at the dealer than eBay, but you can definitely find it for $5-$6 less than the dealer on the web.

My plan is to grind the edges of the bracket with a dremel tool to fit the Genesis contours.

Do you think it will work well?

Lobsenza thanks for the suggestion.

However, after my meltdown last night I texted my cousin in desperation. (such a drama queen I know)

He came over today and installed the bracket & frame in just 10 mins. He didn't even notice the scratches until I pointed them out. LOL So I learned about drill bits today. That was the answer to my issues. He was able to use the included 1" self tapping screws. They worked like a charm.

After all that, it turned out GREAT! I'll post a pic later.

Changing the rear wing was a piece of cake for me, compared. :)

I just purchased a front license plate mount for a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contours work very well with the Genesis. You can mount the plate lower with no modification to the bracket. The contours fit the Genesis much better than the regular mount upside down.

The only drawback is that you can only easily use the top 2 mounting screws. The bottom 2 are in the painted portion of the bumper. Mu plan is to either attach with only 2 screws or to use double stick adhesive behind the bottom 2 screws.

This license plate holder has 2 clips to hold the bottom of the plate. In addition, the holder is slightly larger than the plate which will protect it better. The Hyundai holder is smaller than the plate.

I will post pictures once I install it. The front looks better without any plate. Since I can drive on the temporary plates until November 18th, I will probably delay the installation as long as possible.

The MSRP of the bracket is $22 at the Jeep dealer. The Hyundai bracket list for over $100.

I highly recommend doing this to anyone that want to mount the front plate lower.

I would have certainly purchased one if hadn't done it this way. Sounds a lot safer.....and cheap too. Hehe

Ooops, trying to add pic.

Pic??? :D

Sorry, I rarely post pics to any forum. It took me a bit to figure it out. ;)

Can you post a side view too?

It looks much better lower on the car than the location Hyundai placed it. Congrats again on the new ride...

Definitely looks better lower.

This really looks great! It seems to be one bar lower than the upside down mount method. Did you use the stock Genesis mount?

This is my upside down mount location. I have since plugged the holes with black plastic pins from Lowes Hardware.

Yes, it's the stock mount turned upside down. I like this look much better. I really like the grill and this way more of it is exposed. Thank goodness my cousin came to my rescue. hehe

That was a great idea to plug the holes with black pins. I'm sure you can hardly notice. I think your's looks great too.
