If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey folks i have a weird issue that happened today .....I have a 2012 Gen 3.8 with tech package that i bought brand new just about a month ago and so far love the car . After going to get gas my middle front parking sensor beeped as soon as the care started and intermittently shows that the is an object within the middle sensors of the bumper. I have check and verified that there is no debris or dirt on the sensors ..... I shut the car off and restarted several times and it still comes on .... I even have the park setting off yet the sensor continually shows warnings .... Anyone else come across this ???

Yes I have. It should disappear as mysteriously as it appears. Has happened 2-3 times in 16 months.

Had same issue, return to dealer defective sensor.

Same thing happens occasionally when pulling out of the office parking lot. I figured out it is only when it has been raining, and pulling out is on a down slope, so I attribute it to rain on the car running over the sensor.

Taking mine in tomorrow to dealer. Sensor beeps every time I turn the car on or come to a stop. Sounds like a common issue.

Very common. Easily repaired. Defective front parking sensor. 15 minute job.

The issue was resolved under warranty

Same Car and same exact problem. I took it to Fairfax Hyundai dealership and they said everything was fine. It was not acting up when I picked it up but it started acting up again about two weeks ago. I dropped it off yesterday. They claim it is fixed now. I will pick it up in a few hours. Hopefully it is fixed, it is very annoying.

I have the same issue on a 2012 Genesis sedan with the Tech package. On starting up the car beeps three times and the front middle sensor shows a flashing green when nothing is in proxity to the bumper and the bumper is clean. The flashing stops after 5 kilometres per hour is achieved and reappears when below 5 KPH as does a single episode of the triple beep. This occurs whether or not the parking sensor system is turned on. I took the car in today as soon as the problem occured and was told that they had a list of at least 10 fault codes and will have to take the bumper off to address the problem! It is on warrenty so not a fiscal concern but just another electronic fault in my Genesis. I drove Toyotas for decades before this car with almost nary an issue. Not sure if electronic gremlins are common to Genesis sedans but am sure glad of the lengthy warrenty!

Did the Toyotas have anywhere near the number of luxury features in the Genesis? If you've got manual window cranks, you don't have to worry about electric windows going out, now do you?

Still... More complicated should not mean automatically more problems. That is the German auto makers excuse. Make the goodies bone stock reliable, or not put them on at all. We all expect 200-300k reliable across the board for our cars (even if we do not keep them this long). And, most the car companies try to achieve this. In the days of hand crank windows, many said that the Japanese OHC and DOHC engines would never last as long as a "iron Duke" pushrod 4. Look how that worked out. The "advanced tech" of the day just kept running and running (so long as one changed cam belts). I used to be on the "side" of the pushrod iron engines (V8, V6, or 4) of those days. Learned my lesson.. Americans went from 90%+ market share to losing half their share... They also delayed FI as long as they could. We ended up with "computer controlled" carbs, "variable Venturi" carbs, and the rest that broke down many times more than the EFI from Others.

Not picking on anyone, or argue. I expect whatever is available to be bone stock reliable for more than a decade, well into six digit miles, and by the time it breaks, cheap and well known to fix.. People will be junking, as an example, Genesis if the reported replacement cost $6K radios, $8.4k transmissions, $14k engines, $6.5k cruise controls and drive assist stuff goes out early and stays this high of cost. Or $1.8k power seats, $600 power shades, $480 for a speaker, $3.8k GDI.. No matter what cars have this chaos (and all complex cars today do) in pricing, will cause a revolt if these systems break down and have to be covered by the owners within 10 years (and well into six figure mileage). Pricing will come down for the tiny few percentage that has problems. Otherwise, the brand (any brand) will be finished in the market.

People who owned Corvettes moaned and groaned when 1984-85 came around and there was a "Tokyo by night" digital dash. Said it would be crap, never last, and cost more to fix than the car was worth after the warranty. Even for GM, this did not prove to be true. They were generally reliable during the production run and five decades after. When they did go out, several lower cost repair options are available. When their PFI came out in 85, more howling about the cost of 8 fuel injectors and a CPU. Let alone the cost of "super high pressure" fuel pumps... Well, they system was very reliable. And today is still affordable to fix. Buick port FI and V6 platform has been over the decades one of the most reliable engine systems out there. Even Consumer Reports who are foreign car bigots against Americans have liked that platform for a long time. Point is, she it came out with no distributer (one of the first in the world to have individual coils, they naysayers complained about how expensive it would be to fix. Nope.... Over the decades, IF it breaks, cheap in comparison to others to fix.

With all that said, if I end up with a newer generation lemon, all the above will not matter. I will be cranked off like anyone should.

I started having the same problem, only with the rear. But it seems to only be an issue when I start-up before the welcome animation/sound plays through. I only figured this out about a week ago, but so far, every time I've waited for it to finish, no issue with the parking sensors. The few times I've tested it and started up as soon as I shut the door, the parking sensor beeps.

Anybody else have this quirk?

I had this problem at only 7k with the rear bumper they replaced the sensor under warranty, car has been a rock since then, up to 42k now like the rest of you I get the chime immediately upon starting the vehicle the green flashing light in the middle of the front bumper. It goes out as soon as you accelerate and reappears as you stop. I took it into the Dealer they claimed no codes appeared so they couldn't get Hyundai to pay for it unless a failure code appears, well if the sensor is malfunctioning is it going to send a code? I know something can be blocking the sensors or temperature can cause them to go off more often at lower temps.
I have a feeling they unplug the fuse/battery and wait an hour and tell you it's all set. It's come on hit or miss since I had it in last week, I know Hyundai sales are down and I've heard they fired the american CEO and are trying to cut costs. I'm on my fourth Hyundai and have frequented the same Dealer for 12 years maybe it's time to take it someplace else.

Well well I thought maybe I had some setting wrong but my issue on 2012 Genesis with tech package is about the same as above it seems. This issue first showed up after washing the car, spraying water onto the and through the front grill.....am guessing this may have caused the issue. Whether the park assist switch is on or off does not matter, the front sensor(s) indicate flashing green and beeping noise as if there is an object in close proximity when there is not. Once driving above about 10 mph (16 kilometers/hour) this stops. Thought I might drive around a few days and see if it persists. If yes then looks like I have bad sensor(s) ...maybe shorted. Any who looks like others have had this issue also.

Water getting into the connectors to the sensors can cause problems. I've had one of my rear sensors act up after driving in rain. The next day, everything was fine. Somebody on here has helped his by unplugging, drying out the connectors and connecting. Haven't had to do that yet myself. BTW, I'm just up the coast in Jax.

Do you have to take the bumper off to replace the sensors? Thats what the dealer told me and gave me an estimate of $400.00!!

Yea I had to change my front middle sensor. I delt with it for awhile until I had enough. But I paid like $350 I think I just kept saying I have over $1200 worth of sensors on my bumper lol. They charge $180 an hour so between that and the part that’s why it’s like $400

I would wager the water has something to do with it.

Mine does this from time to time too but it ALWAYS does it following a car wash.

Usually I just run my thumb over the rear sensors and turn the car back on and it works. As it has become more frequent I will be bringing it back to my local dealership and requesting they replace the sensors.

It's quite annoying that this continues to happen and if I could turn off the parking sensors and that wouldn't happen I would be ok with it but alas, it does it whether the sensors are engaged or not.

I also recently had my head unit replaced so it would seem it's an actual sensor issue to me. :(

My 2012 3.8 will do it as well, not 'often' but enough to know it's not right. It can happen when the parking assist is active or inactive. I start up the car and drive it for a bit. When I come to a stop at light or stop sigh, it will beep and indicate GREEN. Or yellow. At that point, enabling or disabling the parking assist does nothing. It will happen until I shut the car off, then it usually goes away. I try to keep the sensors and front of car clean, as well.
