Front Parking Sensors Believe in Ghosts!

I have a 2017 Genesis G80 Ultimate RWD with the V8 engine. I have a problem with the front parking sensors where they will alarm when there is nothing there to warrant such an alarm. I am not close to another car, nor is there any pedestrian traffic. This typically happens after the car is fully up to temperature, and the visual indicator in the car shows it can happen to any of the sensors. Sometimes at a traffic stop I can have the front sensor alarm 5 times or more! No such problem with the rear sensors, and the front sensors work perfectly when something is truly there to be detected. This performance problem has been there since Day 1. One trip to the dealer and of course, they seem to be dumbfounded by this after testing each of the sensors. Anyone else have a similar problem, and better yet has anyone solved this problem?? Aside from it happening at a traffic light, does it happen often on the open road with NO cars anywhere around?

I've had the front sensors alert (RED not YELLOW on dash) unexpectedly a 3x times pulling up behind another vehicle. This only occurred during a heavy rain down poor (a line of animals in pairs headed for an Ark kinda rain). This type of false alert has not occurred while moving and no vehicle in front of me. Per the owners manual (page 3-126) the parking sensors are not functional/disabled above 6 mph.

The Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system has also indicated disabled/faulted 2x during a heavy rain . This was on open road, at highway speed and no vehicle in front of me. I blamed the heavy rain in these situations. I've had the car for 4 months / 5K miles.

Otherwise the Parking Sensors and AEB has worked as expected/flawlessly.

I've had this happen to me at a traffic light when I stop behind a Ford or a BMW. It hasn't happened when I've stopped behind any other make of car. I think the cars must be flirting

There may be some merit to this. Most mfg. parking sensors are using a type of ultrasonic/sonar technology. If the BMW/Ford sensor "lips" are in-line with your Genny's lips it might trigger a false alert.

An alternative theory is "Skynet". The machines are communicating plans to take over the world/human race.

Heavy rain can cause the AEB to drop out. Ir requires some clarity to sense what is ahead and heavy rain blocks the signal. Snow can do it also. Technology has limits.

Happens to me every time I stop behind or around a Tesla. Sometimes when it goes off I don’t even notice the Tesla until I look around.

I keep a bottle of cleaner for auto paint and some shop wipes in the trunk. I've found after cleaning the sensors on the front, the "ghost" disappears.

Any other ways to fix this? It rained really hard here a couple days ago and now my front sensors are on "Ghost" mode also..

Ford trucks...every time I'm behind one at a stop light. Drove me nuts until I made the connection.

I have the same issue. It will happen behind seemly any Ford product with rear parking sensors.

I also cleaned/wiped my sensors with just water and it's back to normal

This might be related. On my 2017 model, the front/side parking assist sensors don't work, for example, as I pull into my garage. If I put the car in reverse and then pull forward, I get the proper alerts. This was duplicated at the dealer (ie - the sensors worked only after being in reverse but not going forward from a stopped status. They haven't a clue! Anyone?

I had what seems to be a similar problem - one front sensor was going off at random times. Had the dealer look at it with the first oil change, the mechanic said "looks like a defective sensor". He ordered a new one, they changed it, and I haven't had the problem since then.

My dad's Genny was ghosting after he did a turtle wax job on the bumper. The dried wax was in the crevices of the sensors and was messing up the transducers.

Mine does that with Ford, BMW and any of their sub brand cars like Lincoln, Mini, etc... Their sensors are emitting the same frequency as my car so it's picking it up.
