I just wanted to thank you SO MUCH for posting this! I'm not handy at all, and Hyundai wanted to charge $1200 to do this. Thanks to this post, I did it myself for free with stuff I already had lying around (drill and zip ties). The detailed photos were the difference maker for me and gave me confidence to go ahead and do this. Happy Holidays!

See, THIS is why I keep my subscription around here. Thanks so much for this post! 5 minutes. done! I didn't even bother to keep the broken plastic pieces. Sure the clip dangles loosely and probably will fall off if I ever pull the seat cover off, but I just held them roughly in place and popped them in and it still worked.

Dealer definitely didn't want to cover it under my hyundai extended warranty and wasn't even interested in offering to fix it.

I had to figure this out last year for my 2016. I haven't seen it in the 2015s yet. I should have read this forum first. I filled in the broken cube with epoxy, then installed the spring clips. I clamped it together with cabinet clamps for a couple of days. So far it has lasted 11 months. Next time, I will be prepared to use tie wraps.

The pics in post 1 of this thread show what you need to do. They aren't loading for you? They work for me just fine.

Just had the passenger seat back on my 2015 5.0 AWD pop off yesterday. The metal clips remained in the seat and the plastic mount faces had broken off of the seatback and were still in the metal clips. Not much hope of epoxy working since the part had partially crumbled. Then I saw this post - 20 minutes later the seatback was fixed! Thanks!!

On a side note, I decided not to drill due to space restrictions. Instead, I heated the butt end of the drill (held by pliers) with a propane torch and melted the holes through the plastic base for the zip ties. Worked very well.

Same problem. I leaned back and turned around in the seat and the back fell off with the clips still in the seat. I completed this repair today and seems pretty secure so far.

Help, how am I supposed to take the clips out of the seat? I don't want to break them by pulling too hard.

Hello, I was trying to do the same hack and was looking for someone that has been active recently to help me. Since the clips are still in the car how do I take them out? Do I just pull?

The metal clips pinch together with a pliers and simply pull out. Might take a tug.

Easier fix is via the TSB 19-BD-004HG. You can get metal clips that snap in to replace the plastic they screw in to where the plastic clips broke off.

I had the same problem with my back seat panel, but couldn't use the zip-tie method because both pieces on both sides were broken. I had a guy drill two holes with long screws to close the gap, then purchased some affordable screw "caps" from Amazon to cover the top of the chrome screws. It's not beautiful, but it's a helluva lot cheaper than the $485 a number of online car parts vendors wanted to charge to send me a USED back seat panel that I would still have to pay someone to put on for me. I think it was a good affordable solution to an unsightly problem. The screw caps were just $6.99 and match the seat well. Hope this helps someone.

Thanks you! This worked perfect. Took 10 minutes, hardest part was getting the metal clips out of the back. Just lift up from the bottom of the clip and it should pop out for you.
