2023 G70 Sport Prestige 6k miles at about 8 k started getting clunking noise mostly on uneven pavement. Most noticeable when the suspension drops and you're traveling 5-10 mph, a hallow thunk. Demanded a road test the tech said he didn't hear anything. They replaced stabilizers and on 2nd trip to service they replaced the strut assembly bearings, whatever that may be, My initial suggestion was to replace both strut assemblys they denied my request..I am now told due to a manufacture issue they are designing a new strut assembly due to excessive owner complaints about the suspension. I also had to replace a headlight that filled with water / condensation at 2,500 miles therefore didn't work waited 4 weeks for that. All the promises and buildup! Very dissapointing as a new customer to the brand, and maybe worse because they have one guy at the Hyundai dealership representing Genesis. They are forever swamped, can barely keep up with return calls as we are still awaiting a stand alone Genesis only facility in S Florida !
I have a 2023 G70 3.3 AWD with about 8k miles, and I've had precisely the same experience when driving over rough roads or small depressions (e.g., manhole covers). It's a "clunking" or hard impact "thud" noise and it happens all the time & at any speed. It's been doing this for about a year. I took the car to the G. dealership and they replaced both front "tension arm assemblies." The result: no change at all. The clunking impact noises are still 100% present. I'm seeing on this forum that there seem to be a LOT of nearly identical gripes about the G70. I'm going to head back to the dealership (only TWO in the entire Chicagoland area - so timely customer service is essentially impossible). This is NOT acceptable in a $60k car that is otherwise terrific!Has anyone experienced a clunking noise over bumps at lower speeds after installing aftermarket brake pads? Just curious because recently I noticed there is a front end clunk whenever I go over bumps, at low speeds, and when the car rocks side to side. And I also recently changed my front pads to the Hawk HPS+ (I don’t think it happened right after I changed the pads out) sway bar links are tight also
Still waiting on all my parts to come in. They called and said it would be another 7-10 days.

Agreed. Much the same issue with my 2019 G70. Good to know (for me) that it wasn’t the tension arms, one more piece of info to get me closer to a root cause.I have a 2023 G70 3.3 AWD with about 8k miles, and I've had precisely the same experience when driving over rough roads or small depressions (e.g., manhole covers). To follow up on this: Before my G70’s 5/60 warranty expired last month, I took it to my local Genesis dealer (Gettel Genesis, Beadenton FL). They looked at the car 3 times.Agreed. Much the same issue with my 2019 G70. Good to know (for me) that it wasn’t the tension arms, one more piece of info to get me closer to a root cause.
If it is an aero panel somewhat loose and making noises, it might not be that big a deal to rig up a bubba-style fix to quiet it. It's under the car, so nobody will see the fix. Besides, an aero panel is rarely structurally significant, so your only goal is for it not to make noise.3rd try: Sent a video of the noise to the service manager, who acknowledged the issue. Found a road near the dealer where the issue could be reproduced. Dropped off car at dealer, tech reproduced issue. Dealer reported back that the issue was a damaged underbody aero panel, it was road damaged (not under warranty), and the replacement panel cost was $2000.
Oh, I repaired the panel (denim patches and hot glue worked very well. It’s the passenger side panel that is under the doors, between the front wheel well and the panel in front of the rear wheel well)). That isn’t the issue - the noise is there, even when the panel is removed entirely for a test drive. If it is an aero panel somewhat loose and making noises, it might not be that big a deal to rig up a bubba-style fix to quiet it. I took my 2023 G70 back to the dealer for the "clunking" noise and took the manager for a ride over some rough pavement to demonstrate the sound. The guy agreed that he heard the noise & said they couldn't reproduce it themselves (because they don't want to drive over even small potholes on someone else's car). Understandable, but not helpful when the owner is desperate to stop the noise. I've been driving cars for 40+ years and have never had this problem in a non-junker. This is totally unacceptable. The dealer ordered 2 new struts at my request. Hopefully that'll solve this; but I'm not holding my breath. But, I'm not letting this go. I will connect with Genesis corporate next if it's not fixed.Mine is in, waiting on them to call me back so I can take it in. So annoying!!!
It may be time to invoke the Lemon Law in your state, if that’s an option. Doing so will at a minimum really get corporate’s attention on your problem.Well, the saga continues... The dealership installed a new passenger side front strut mount. Drove the car about 10 feet and an awful sounding clunking/reverberation could be heard from the front, mostly driver's side. The sound is so noticeable that it's almost like a box of marbles, and it can be heard even at low speeds over smooth pavement. This is so ridiculous! Now, the dealership is having a THIRD go at this problem, which has only gotten worse over the past few months. I love this fun little car, but this persistent problem is making me rethink my choice to go with Genesis. Plus, there are only TWO Genesis dealerships in the entire Chicagoland area - that's over 9 million people! How can you have good customer service when you don't even have an established dealership network?
Good to hear. In my case, I believe I found part of the noise: The aftermarket Burger Motorsports intercooler and transmission cooler that I had installed a couple of years ago. Found the couplings from the charge pipes to the intercooler had shifted somewhat, allowing the pipes to make contact with the subframe and other parts of the car. Added a second clamp to the connections from the charge pipes to the intercooler inlet and outlet, and adjusted the other clamps. Also modified the positioning of the transmission cooler, as a custom mount was required (NOW is when Burger Motorsports admits their original intercooler and transmission cooler designs don't fit together on a G70!).I think the dealership may have finally solved the problem. The "thudding" & "clunking" is much better over rough pavement, and the thudding noise is much more dampened (for now). Not sure why this was such a head-scratcher for Genesis. I'll report back with an update once we get out of this deep freeze when I can really see if the issue is fixed. All they (apparently) did was tighten the bolts & hardware holding the strut mount to the frame.
If they installed a brand new OEM strut and made the noise worse, that is a competency issue with the dealer service dept. Only two Genesis dealers? Yeah, if a bone stock G70 is making noise, that's one thing. More often than not, it's related to work that has been done to the car, whether that is aftermarket stuff, or some service work... even if it didn't seem related.Good to hear. Will know in a few days if that fixed it or not.

I had returned mine to stock, still made the noise. Then again, I’m not excluding the possibility of multiple sources for the noise. If they installed a brand new OEM strut and made the noise worse, that is a competency issue with the dealer service dept. That, in and of itself, does not precluding the work previously done from causing issues.I had returned mine to stock...
Correct - Do note that none of my mods were suspension related. (most I did was install better brake pads.) Hadn't disturbed any of the suspension components. Will recheck the torque on the suspension components, as its possible that on my early build G70 something has come loose over time. That, in and of itself, does not precluding the work previously done from causing issues.
One good example is if any of the suspension control arms have been loosened, it is imperative that the end link bolt be tightened and torque properly WITH THE VEHICLE AT RIDE HEIGHT. This ensures the integral rubbers bushings are "clocked" properly, in a neutral position at normal ride height. Otherwise, the rubber bushings will be constantly torqued and will fail prematurely. End result... you guessed it, suspension clunking.
You could have a problem simply from a nut/bolt not being tightened properly. The front strut top nut is a perfect example. That happened to me one time, and the suspension clunked on the very test drive. Didn't take me long to figure out, mostly because I did the work and so I know where I should be looking. Might be more difficult to troubleshoot if somebody else did the work.
Anything that has been R&R'ed, or otherwise disturbed, since brand new has the potential of causing issues.
Understand. I wasn't sure what else you might have done, so I figured I might mentioned it... just in case.Correct - Do note that none of my mods were suspension related. I know someone else that had this problem and they did the same thing to fix it. Seems to have worked. I have the problem now too. Going to check the bolts myself.I think the dealership may have finally solved the problem. Oh right. Good point! I will check for those when I check mine this weekend. I have a rattle too.Understand. I wasn't sure what else you might have done, so I figured I might mentioned it... just in case.
From the factory, every single fastener on the suspension has a witness mark, drawn with a grease pencil. That makes visual checks really easily done. I generally try to re-mark them but don't always do it for every single nut/bolt. I should though.
What fasteners do you actually check? Can you send photos? I have the same clunk over minor deviations in the pavement as well. 23 SP with 13k milesOh right. Good point! I will check for those when I check mine this weekend. I have a rattle too.
