  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Front Suspension/Front Struts

The dealership found my clunk! Parts on order now.

I have a clunk in what sounds like my passenger side rear tire. The sound happens intermittently when driving under 30mph. I've been to the dealership numerous times to have the mystery sound solved. First try they replaced the strut but it didn't solve the problem. This last time they got chassis ears and found the issue, play in the axel. They sent a video of the diagnosis where they make it cause the sound. See if it's the same as what you are hearing and it might be a clue

Link to the service video below. Hopefully it works and isn't individual to me. Let me know

Could it be similar to the Aker (sp) Effect caused by the alignment of the steering. The noise is the front tires slightly skipping on the road surface while turning sharp. Corvette, especially the newer ones have this issue.

Just recently noticed when I back out of my driveway and drive over a 2 inch lip, I detect a very noticeable thunk or crack. I immediately thought it was a Strut issue. Brought it to the dealership and they came back with no issues found. I plan on taking the mechanic for a ride at the next oil change in 700 miles.

I do recall back back in 2010 my Hyundai Veracruz had the exact same issues and Hyundai issued a recall to replace the upper strut covers and front suspension.

Anyone else experiencing the same?

I am experiencing the same thunk and now it’s bouncing up and down in the rear on certain roads. I’m in a 2021 GV80.

My clunking noise is while driving forward or backing into my driveway and turning over a 1 inch lip and the body flexes. Very difficult to diagnose because it doesn't do it all the time. I suspect it has something to do with the suspension. We'll see next week. I filed a formal complaint with Genesis to repair 3 items at the dealer; 1. Clunking Nose, Hard Kick when slowing down and the Navigation System.
I had the same clinking noise. I exported my Genesis to South Korea (because I needed to live in Korea for one year), and Korean technicians discovered it was from an engine mount or steering rack. They replaced both of them, and the issues are gone! I hope this will help you.

Thank you will look into it.

Curious to know if replacing the Tie Rods fixes the clunking noise. Would you please let me know either way?
Slightly less noise now, but is still noticeabl. Guess I just learn to live with it.

Lucky you! I would use the opportunity to upgrade HDA to HDA2 with OEM parts! :-)
Some auto shops offer that service in Korea.
Wish we had the same upgrade service available in the US as well :-(

2023 G70 Sport Prestige 9k miles at about 8 k started getting clunking noise mostly on uneven pavement. Most noticeable when the suspension drops. Let's say the road height goes from 3" to 1" and you're traveling 20 mph, thunk. Demanded a road test with the front end man and he drove it around the dealership parking lot said he didn't hear anything. Said no let's go out on the real road in real driving conditions and the issue quickly stood out to him. Struts and insulators on my new 58k car, 3 weeks to get. I will require alignment and so on. Had to replace a headlight that filled with water therefore didn't work waited 2 weeks for that, projector light in sideview mirror filled with water, plastic trim around windows look 20 years ( garage kept ). I mean things even with new cars but cmon. And then the Genesis experience is no different then owning a Hyundai accent. All the promises and buildup! Maybe worse because they have one guy at the Hyundai dealership representing Genesis

My GV80 started having a clunk in the right rear in Jan 2023. After 6 trips to the dealership, and a final period where they had my car over 100 days, they have resolved the issue December 11th. A bad STRUT MOUNT. Frustrating because first thing they did was replace the struts which initially made it better, but then it came back. Obviously because they didn't change the mount and it was still faulty.

My trouble shooting nightmare included replacement of the rear axels, differential, and struts.

Hope this helps with others trouble shooting their issue. Have the dealership confirm the strut mounts are good!

Just got a 2023 G70 3.3L Sport Prestige with 900 miles. Started noticing a clunking sound from what seemed to be the front passenger side strut area when going over bumps (even very small ones). I took it in and they said they tightened everything to torque specs and that fixed the problem. Well it didn't and this issue is very very annoying for me. Check our these videos of the noise, is this the same noise you guys are hearing?

It sounds like it but hard to be sure without hearing it in person. I'd take it back and tip them off on the strut and mount.

Ah I have the same issue in my 2023 g70 with 12000 miles

I’m having the same problem with my 2010 Genesis, sedan, 3.8. My noise is coming from the front driver side. It sounds like it’s getting worse but can’t duplicate every time I go to the dealer or a mechanic.
