• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "2009 Genesis" isn't going to indicate to anybody that you need help. However, "Need help with my 2009 Genesis Sedan" will. Be as descriptive as you can. Please use common sense... thanks for the advice all. I am leaning toward 35% just because it's my first tint, and it will technically be legal.
Unless you're a drug dealer, in the mafia or regularly having coitus in your backseat (>once a week ;)) 35% VLT should work well for you.
Visible Light Transmission (VLT) is the amount of light that is allowed through the tint. It's unclear if this is outside -> inside, inside->outside or both.

The laws exist for 2 reasons.
1) Safety of LEO's to see inside vehicle. This is why metallic/mirrored tint (think ray-ban aviator chromed girl/guy watcher sunglasses) is illegal in most U.S. states.
2) Ensure drivers visibility out of vehicle is not affected (particularly at night). On rare occasions I've forgotten my glasses and driven with sunglasses at night. I cannot see much out of my 35% VLT tinted side+rear windows.
