  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Up for sale is my entire suspension from my 2011 V6 sedan plus the rear sway bar from a 2013 R-Spec. Included are the shocks, springs, front & rear sway bars plus the rubber top hats. The R-Spec sway does not have the correct bushings or mounting brackets. I'm including it as I don't want to just throw it away.

The car has 55,000 miles on it and all of the parts are OEM. I just had a R-Spec suspension put in, so these parts need to go.

I'm wanting $150 for everything. All of the parts are wrapped and packed into one large box. Shipping is going to be crazy, I'm expecting at least $150, as that's what I paid for the R-Spec suspension that shipped from Florida to Louisiana.

Before this suspension hits the the trash dumpster, I'll lower the price to $75 plus actual shipping charges. I really want these out of the garage.

I have a question about the RSpec. rear sway bar. Do you know the actual diameter? I know my '11 4.6 is 22mm. I order what was supposed to be the RSpec rear sway bar and it looks identical to the one on my car.

The Stabilizer for the 2011 V6 is part number 55510-3M151, which also fits all other 2010-2011 Genesis sedan models (regardless of engine).
The Stabilizer bar for the 2012 R-Spec is part number 55510-3M600, which also fits all other 2012-2014 Genesis sedan models (regardless of engine).

Is there any way to check the part number you received?

When you ordered it, did you give them a VIN number? If you gave them your real VIN number, they may have not ordered the part you wanted, and may have ordered the one that fits your car according to their computer. In cases where I am ordering a part from a different model year, I find a VIN number on the Internet that matches the model year of the part I want, even though my real VIN is obviously different.

I'm at work today and just got calipers and measured the stock rear bar (still installed) and I'm getting around 18.2mm. I was wrong saying it was 22mm. I did order the 55510-3M600 and they did ask for my VIN but I told them I needed that part Number. Unfortunately I did mention my model year so maybe they ignored my statement that I wanted the RSpec part since it was thicker.
I will measure the diameter on the new bar tonight when I get home. It looks identical to the one on my car. The RSpec bar is supposed to be hollow but can you actually see that it's hollow? Do you know the diameter of the RSpec bar. By the way, thanks for your quick reply!

I don't know if you can see it is hollow. I would guess not.

A dealer could be sued if the incorrect part was ordered for a car and an accident occurred. Any decent lawyer could make a case that the handling was compromised because it was not OEM part for that vehicle (even if it is a big lie), so dealers are very reluctant to provide parts that don't match the VIN.

I find a used car site that lists VIN numbers that matches the model year and trim level I want to use for ordering a part, if I want one from a different model year. I don't tell the parts guy what I am doing.

First thing I would do is to check the invoice or packing slip for your order, to see what part number is listed. I assume the part number is not on the sway bar itself.

The bar came shipped with just a wire tie on it with the part # covered by the UPS tag. I tried to peal it off to see the # but was unsuccessful. I will measure it today to see if it is the same size or not. Hopefully it is bigger. I'm getting a MagnaFlow exhaust delivered this week and it would be the best time to change out the bars with the exhaust out. Thanks again.
