  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

FS: HID Conversion, $79: Top quality, LIFETIME warranty!

You are going to mention that these are not DOT approved... and any modification, or alteration from a DOT approved headlight bulb in an OEM housing is against the law correct?

Shouldn't that be a disclaimer?

I mean really I'm sick of seeing these P&P kits all over the place. They are not legal, they are not safe and bottom line the NHTSA has laid it all out that these are should not be for sale by any US vendor.

As a vendor I would think you might want to CYA...

As our terms and conditions state, this is left to the consumer as to how they want to use our product. There is a disclaimer in the terms and conditions of sale, just like there is on any other website selling these products.

Government regulation from 10 years ago aside, these days, in real world use, they are completely safe when installed in a modern HID projector housing. The problems arise when they are installed in reflector housings. Thanks for your input.

The issue is though the kits are still illegal for sale (terms / conditions etc do not matter) by ANY vendor in the United States. This part of the statute is pretty clear.

The DOT has never approved an aftermarket HID kit... and I don't expect them to do so anytime soon. Unfortunately, as you pointed out each State and local jurisdictions have their own rules - and enforce them accordingly.

The bottom line is the "HID Kit" does adhere to US Regulations (FMVSS 108) [note: a revised and update to FMVSS 108 has been ongoing for the last couple of years, and is currently still under review]. You can still file petitions...

A current draft can be found here.

For shits... the ECE R48 legislation can be found here

Note the sale of the kits are still illegal - and still punishable under Civil Penalty.

I agree with you that the problems arise with reflector based housings... but until the law is re-written it is what it is... I was just simply trying to share information. Please don't take this the wrong way.

Are these DOT approved??? Oops didn't read the fine print disregard

The kit is 80, plus the relay makes it 90. Does the Genesis require the $15 warning canceler kit? The description just says "some cars".

First, I don't know what a DRL is, and second, this is your kit to fit the Genesis, and you should know if I need it or not. I don't know how to determine if I need it or not.

DRL = Daylight Running Lights

Assuming you are replacing your low beam halogen headlights, you will not need the canceler as the low beams are not on with your DRLs.

Hope this helps...

Hi.

Sorry I am new to this "HID" conversion thing, i have a 2012 genesis sedan with DRL on.

I am intending to get the DRL and the regular lights with HID lights.

Can I just purchase the 2009-2012 Hyundai Genesis Low Beam HID Conversion Kit and would that cover for both? I dont really care for the High beam one, but if it comes with it even better! my main concern is with that package i get both DRL and low beam HIDs?

Thanks!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
The DRL runs with high beam, which we do not recommend replacing with HID, you can disable this if you would like.

The kit you mentioned would just replace the lo beam.

Please let me know if you have any further questions!

Just one more....do i really need to get the HID relay? i own a 2012 gen sedan
