  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

We purchased a fully-loaded GV70 at MSRP+++ price (supply/demand you know- cough, cough). We have been Lexus owners (5 times) for the past 13 years with no issues. This time I jumped on the GV70 hysteria and paid- in spades. Today we are driving in our small, rural town when the engine starts stuttering and misfiring- seriously misfiring. The check engine light starts flashing and the car goes into limp mode. I am thrilled we were in town and not traveling this holiday weekend on the Interstate. I'm 40 miles from the dealership we purchased it through. I call customer service and I'm happy they are open. I explain the situation to the young lady on the phone and she says we need to have the vehicle towed to them as the vehicle has gone into limp mode to prevent severe damage to the engine. I tell her where we are at and ask them to send their contracted tow service to pick up the vehicle- she informs me that she can send a tow, but I'm responsible for it- I asked her about the new vehicle warranty on this Korean Super SUV and she said it was my responsibility. I thanked her and asked if they had a Genesis loaner available since it was going to be an extended stay. She said they had no Genesis loaners, but agreed to provide a Subaru Outback as a loaner. Thank goodness I have AAA extended range towing service. Has anyone else experienced this type of sudden, low mileage issue with their Genesis GV70? I'm thinking I won't be in the vehicle long if this is the "experience" I can expect for $65k+++ inflated price.

Which trim and engine do you have? For $65K, I assume the 3.3T, but could be a fully loaded 2.5T. Both have a regular torque-converter 8-sp auto box, rather than the DCT-8 on my 2022 Santa Fe, also with the 2.5T engine. I've heard of issues with the tranny on the SF, but not with the engine, other than a recall due to a leaky turbo oil line that I avoided on purpose, knowing the recall was dated 3/27/22, so I bought a vehicle built after that date (04/09/22). Your issue could be something stupid, but still sucks having to take a new car to a dealer. I've owned several Lexus vehicles myself, all V8s (SC400, GS400, LS400, SC430, and more recently an RC-F), and saw quality declining every time, so stopped buying them. Unfortunately, it's the same crap with everybody now, so you can't really escape having issues.

Wait a minute. You said GV70, right? They either have a 2.5 or 3.5 motor.

So, here are the engine error codes the owners' website shows now that it will load. Interestingly, when we first looked, it showed 3 error codes but would not open or let us see what they were. No call from the dealership today so I called them. All the employee would say is, "We ordered some parts to repair it and my service advisor was off so she sent me to his voicemail without explaining what was ordered or how long I could expect them to keep the vehicle.

I did receive a call from Genesis customer care and got to tell my story to them. They apologized and said they would escalate it to their "national" team and I would get a call later today- that was about 2 pm eastern. Since it's 8:42 pm eastern now, I'd guess they won't be calling me. I was told to explain that I had to pay for the tow and I would need to submit my tow bill for consideration of reimbursement- we'll see.

Nice to see they've driven it 4 miles today after they warned me not to drive it at all.
