Hey all, sorry for the novel I am about to right but hopefully some of you can help me out!
I currently drive a 2005 Hyundai Tiburon SE. Over the years I have been so impressed with Hyundai because since I have owned my Tiburon, nothing mechanically or anything has gone wrong. (well, I did have a person kick a dent in it and a tree fall on it during a storm, but i digress
Anyways, the car primarily served as my High School/College car. Now that I just graduated and have my first real job, I would like to look the part and upgrade a little more. Nothing against the Tiburon, but I have just outgrown it. Over the last year or so I have been pondering what to get. I was stuck on SUVs for a while like the Chevy Equinox because I want something that I can put Golf Clubs in, carry around people, ski and snowboard equipment. ect.
Anyways, sorry for rambling. I have been looking at the Sonata and other vehicles because my price range is 15-22k for things to fit the bill. SUVs eventually got thrown out the window because it is impossible to find a newish SUV that I like that is AWD, in my price range, and gets decent gas mileage. I since stumbled on the Genesis Sedan and after some research, it has everything I was looking for in my next car. I have seen some between the 18k and 22k proce range, they get solid MPG, super nice interior with features at base trim, and the size I want.
I do have a bunch of random questions for you guys hopefully we can get them all solved!
1) I saw that they only make the 3.8 in RWD. This is sort of a concern for me since I live in the Cleveland area, we get a good amount of snow. This is my only real concern. Some have told me to never even try RWD in snow but others said as long as you have snow tires and drive carefully, I will be fine. So I want to know from the horses mouth, how do the 3.8 Genesis Sedans do in the snow? I dont expect it to be a plow truck, but I also would like for it to be able to handle a inch or 2 of snow.
2) Can you tell me about the space? I heard they are huge on the inside. I am 6'3 so I need some leg/head room (Something my Tiburon seriously lacks). Also, will it be able to fit lets say, a 2 bags of golf clubs? a snowboard? I literally have to jam my snowboard into my Tiburon to make it fit lol.
3) Can you tell me more about the Trim levels and the difference in the year models? I looked on autotrader and I cant seem to really find a difference in the 2009 and the 2010. Basically what I am asking is are there certain features and looks that some years added that others didnt? Whats different in the 2011 compared to the 2009.
I have also seen the interior is always different and I have no idea why since they are all 3.8. I have seen a dark blue one with brown leather interior(which I like A LOT, soo classy) I have seen black with tan leather, I have seen black with black leather, white with brown leather, ect ect. Is there any rhyme or reason to the interior colors? I would really like a Black 3.8 with either brown or tan interior.
Sub question: what is your personal favorite feature on the car?
4) Im assuming this is a dumb question, but are they reliable? I have read that they are but I just want to make sure that there is nothing stupid that goes wrong with them!
5) How is the sound system even in the base models? Is it pretty standard or when you crank it does it make you go "wow!". My buddy has a Audi A6 and it came with like concert surround sound system and it sounds absolutly incredible. No matter how loud you turn it up it never crackles.
6)Why do some have that wings badge and others dont?
I cant think of anything else right now but if all checks out, I am looking to trade the Tiburon in for hopefully 7k and use that as a down payment for a Genesis at the end of March once the snow is officially over. Any help would greatly be appreciated!!
