  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 aftermarket brake pads

Oh to be an American..... @EBC BRAKES the website suggested above is selling pads/rotors approaching 50% the cost of Canadian vendors that I've seen. ouch.

I'm may be selling my EBC Yellow front pads that I won. I don't think I'll own my G70 long enough to need new pads. I can let you know.

Please let me know. Thanks.

Sorry for slightly off topic.
The 2019 G70 does have a brake wear sensor I assume ? The pad looks low but nothing get tripped yet ? Also is there a light on the dash board to warn me or something ? Dont seem to find that info or any indicator how much "expected mileage" is left on them like the Idrive on BMW will show me.
Lastly, are they designed to change both rotor + pad at the same time like the BMWs ? The rotor still feels smooth to the touch, no ridges etc

Also based on this thread, aftermkt pad is much better than the original Brembo pads ?

Thanks !

I'm not sure the original pads are Brembo, but yes, there are much better aftermarket choices. You don't need to change the rotors (I've never heard that BMW says to replace them as a set).

I am thinking since my 2019 has about 58k km on it, may as well replace brake and rotor as a package.

Hello all. New to the forum and came to this thread after the famous google search "Best AEM brakes for 2019 Genesis G70". I own a 2019 G70 Sport 3.3T AWD. Its taken me the better part of 2 days to get through all 25 pages of this post. I must say, this is way more of a frustrating decision than I expected. As I read through, every time I thought I had a clear winner there was more frustrations after some time has passed and updates posted.

I tried to search this site for some kind of "sticky" or compilation of good pad/rotor sets as I think this would be invaluable to everyone. Especially considering the amount of time many on this thread have dedicated to this cause (BIG THANKS to those who have).

So far from what I can tell here are some solid choices for pads. Granted I am making a list for someone who does NOT track their car but dabbles in some spirited driving like myself.

Euro Sport Pads (Semi Metallic) - These seem to be popular and consistently liked by all who post about them. Boast better stopping and eliminate the "warped rotor" sensation due to pad deposits. Drawbacks are more dust than OEM pads and they are still very pricy.

EBC Greenstuff/Yellow Stuff/Redstuff - I don't remember seeing many negatives about these pads so from what I can tell besides the additional dust they perform better than OEM.

Dynamic Friction 3000/5000 - I know this is a reputable company and users seem to have good luck with this brand as well. Better stopping than OEM, no vibrations but also more dust.
  • One question I had here. On the site the 5000 pads say the dreaded "ceramic" as the material. @jason991 in your post #445 you mentioned you picked up 5000 semi metallic. Is there another pad besides the the ones on the site that say ceramic?
Hawk HPS 5.0 - Another good semi metallic option that are better than stock and no vibrations

Optimum OEp Series (by R1 Performance)

This was the best list that i was able to compile, honestly my head is spinning a bit after all the reading so if i forgot something please let me know and i will add it.

Seems like a good summary. Yeah, reading the 25 page post must have been rough.
At least now there are some good options that don't cost a ridiculous amount of $$.
The brakes are awesome once you get decent pads. More dust is just a given.
Let us know which you choose and how you like them.

No problem! Maybe you can see them in this picture but I got the R1 slotted/drilled rotors as well. Optimum on all 4 wheels for street driving yet they seem to hold up really well to high speed braking etc. Don't even waste your time at the dealer getting your rotors turned - the stock pads are the issue.

How long have you had these pads/rotors installed? I don't do any track driving but definitely do my fair share of spirited driving. Do you notice any performance increase/decrease over OEM? Any vibrations or noise that you noticed? How is the dust compared to OEM?

Well analyzed, if you would like to know a brief breakdown of our pads I have copied a rough guide below, more info can be found here on our website

Ultimax - OEM replacement, low dust, eco-friendly non metallic pad. Easy on rotors.

Greenstuff - entry level upgrade from OEM, not track capable. Medium/Low dust. Eco-friendly material

Redstuff – Organic blend, lowest dust & kind on rotors, better friction than Green. For higher HP &/or heavier cars. Ceramic particle enhanced, NOT ceramic fibres. Long lasting, not track capable

Yellowstuff - Street performance, great friction for spirited driving, works good from cold, works best when hot. Takes longer to bed. Not low dust.

Bluestuff - Hybrid Street & track pad. High friction street pad capable of track days. Works great from cold. Quicker bedding. Not low dust. 0.52mu coefficient & 0.42mu coefficient available for some rear applications (lighter cars)

RP1/X series – all-out track pad, high performance, RPX high 0.55mu torque for under servo'd cars RP1 medium 0.45mu torque for over servo'd cars. Not recommended for street use.

2020 Genesis G70 Sport RWD 3.3T. Genesis dealer just quoted me $877.00 for OEM replacement front brake pads. Rotors were $153 each, but $877 for a set of front pads???? Is that correct??????

Unfortunately it is and the price is beyond stupid. I ended up getting power stop brake kit plus indie labor for cheaper than $877…
Would have gone the EBC route but none of the dealer has stock in GTA a month ago.

Do you need new rotors already? Did they price the expensive Euro pads vs the regular pads our G70 came with? My 2020 is still low mileage so pads for me are several years away but have been trying to stay on top of all the pad discussions for when my time comes for replacements.

That is insane. Is that even for the good Euro pads?
Buy some aftermarket semi-metallic pads (EBC, Hawk, etc...). They will be MUCH cheaper. Easy to do yourself, or have an indie shop do it.
How many miles do you have?

Their pads pricing is outrageous and it leaves deposits on rotors, creating vibration if you try to enjoy the car. My suggestion is to upgrade to a more performance-oriented pad or something super quiet like Girodisc magic pads and pay a LOT less.

I've had my Dynamic Friction pads on for about 6-8 months by now and I am fully satisfied woth their performance

For those that wonder how hard it is to replace your pads and rotors - see for yourself (same procedure as this video):

Just throwing in my 2 cents.

2019 G70 2.0T Sport with the Brembo Euro Sport Pads.

Replaced the front brakes with EBC Red stuff and resurfaced the rotors.

Doesn't stop as well as the stock pads but they're like 80% of the way there and they have barely any dust & noise compared to stock.

That would indeed be a performance downgrade. I would say our 6MT Sport's Eurosport pads are closer to EBC Yellow, or even Blue. We love them. Dust... meh, just something we're perfectly willing to put up with, in order to get great brake performance.

Then again, it all depends on your priorities. If low dust is very important to you, EBC red should be an improvement.

It's like tires... buy what suits your expectations.
