  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Seems the age variance for the G70 is all over the map, which is really good to see! Thought it would be fun to find out how many younger and older folks we have!

I feel like the groupings are a tad misaligned, but the spread is interesting nonetheless

Only one group surprised me a bit. Not going to mention which one until more votes are in though.

My guess is you can probably assume everyone selecting the top two age groups are actually G80 and G90 owners that don't realize this thread is posted in the G70 section and therefore referring to G70 owners... They seem to have trouble with that lol :p

For the record (and since I am being an ass) I am about to turn 43. A few years back I thought I was old enough to drive a 5 series but realized that class of car is way too boring (unless you can afford an M5) and had to go back to a more fun car. Maybe when I am 55+ I will move back to a more boring car again. :)

That is what I was alluding to. OTOH, a G70 may be my next car even though I'm in the top age bracket. The under 25 crowd is just getting into the workforce and is buying a used Camero or if starting a family perhaps a van or SUV. Circumstances change. I like the G80 for comfort and I had to carry a wheelchair an sometimes oxygen equipment so the size was easy to justify. My wife, unfortunately, has passed and I don't need as much space. Smaller may be better but I still want the goodies and technology. I have a couple of years to decide though, but comfort is more important than high speed cornering.

I recall your posts about using the remote start from doctor's office and loading wheel chair (IIRC) and a few other posts that had to do with adapting the car to your and her situation.
Tough is not word enough for the situation. I miss my wife when she is gone overnight. I am glad you had her.
(We are not too different in age, you and I)

My condolences Ed. Being in the upper range of the 55-64 group the one thing I noticed was how low the car is. Lower than my wife’s ‘17 Civic coupe and my old Mk 5 GTI. Not really a complaint but it did take some getting used to.

Sorry about your wife!

The G70 has a low entry and exit position that may not be comfortable for older drivers. Hell I'm under 40 and some days especially with full winter attire find it hard!

My husband and 15 year old daughter groan getting out of mine. Amateurs I say.

Ed, 53 years is more than half a lifetime. Though I’m sorry for your loss I’m glad you and your wife had all those years. Many of us cannot say the same.

Nothing wrong with hitting 55 and still doing things like I was maybe 35. No boring cars for me just yet.

My condolences to Ed. Always enjoy reading his posts. 76 here and in a G70. Next car will be a minivan...

WTF...where did this thread go?
Well the demographics are getting closer to what I'd have guessed. Old farts are down to 15% now.

I suppose you old fellows aren't in that much of a hurry to get to your bingo games that you need something like a G70

Sorry to hear about your wife, sounds like you guys had a fantastic run through life together.
