  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70-one of the least reliable cars?

^ with the G70 Brembo's, all trims except the RWD Dynamic and the 6MT have ceramic pads which many on here report having issues with uneven pad deposits leading to pulsation. members who have swapped to the OE Euro sport semi-metallic pads (standard on the RWD Dynamic and 6MT trims) have seen this issue go away. no uneven pad deposits and much improved braking performance and fade resistance. similar to what C&D reported with their Lightning Lap brake failure on the ceramics. BUT, the Euro pads do create far more dust than the ceramic pads. so there's that to look forward to...it's not all great news.

Curious how you know this? Is there a chart somewhere that shows all the details of each build?

^ how i know what? trim specs? this was documented in Genesis brochures and specification details back in the model year releases. it was also detailed in media coverage of the models. various references have been shared on the forum over the years. it is well understood that the 6MT and 3.3T Dynamic (RWD) trims came standard with the "Euro" semi-metallic pads. all other trims, whether Brembo or not, came with ceramics.

without digging around to find all the various references here's the C&D article on the 3.3 Dynamic which talks about the Sport pads being standard on that trim:

Fair enough and I'm not questioning your data, just wondering where I can find it. I have a Canadian Dynamic 3.3T, which I believe is different from the US Dynamic. I assume it's got the standard pads but it would be good to know with certainty. I've found some specs but not everything.

^ good question - the Genesis Canada product line manager told me that in Canada it was only the 6MT trim that got the Euro pads. i know i saw this documented somewhere as well, but it's been a while...

the US had 2 trims with Euro pads as standard, but since we didn't get the RWD Dynamic 3.3T we got left out. yours is AWD therefore has the ceramics.

^ i think everyone is all-ears for alternative options for the OE semi-metallic Euro Sport pads (from the 6MT and RWD Dynamic trims). the Euro pads are muy expensive! we've found a comparable pad compound from Dynamic Friction but waiting to get feedback on how they are. a few other guys have gone with other A/M pads so there are a couple options, but more is better
Hey, first time buying a car and you seem like you have a lot of good insight on this car. I'm heavily looking into purchasing a 22' g70 3.3t or launch edition. They are about 25-30k where I live now. I've heard some issues of the turbo engine not being great, and possibly expensive to fix in general. Any info on this? Or has this been a car thats been widely reliable? Thanks!

Great cars overall and the 3.3 is a pretty stout motor w/ a good track record overall. Try to source a Sport Prestige or that Launch Edition, they have all the options. 25-30k for a low mile version is a great deal. If you can source a CPO car for a couple thousand more that's also a good find since you'll get much more warranty time/miles.

Whaat are these people speaking of? The GDI in these cars is about as far as a quiet / reliable V6 goes...

bunch of trolls tbh...

i wished they made these with suspended pedals, btw. I might even survive with that size and organ pedals but then again.. I like our Audi. :)

This was from Yahoo clickbait. we came in as 10th worst car according to AAA. What are they talking about?

Overall score: 63 Reliability score: 2/5

This sport sedan is fairly comfortable to drive, but it compromises on space and isn’t as quick or fuel efficient as its competitors.

The 2021 Genesis G70 comes with excellent handling and controls and a classy interior finish with perforated leather seats and padded armrests. However, the controls and navigation system have flaws — the latter doesn’t offer alternative suggestions to misspelled addresses, for example.

The G70 dropped to a below-average reliability rating last year, primarily due to problems with the brakes and rotors and “excessive” pulsing or vibration.
Consumer Reports also gave it poor reliability results as well:
