  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 Tips and Tricks

Good to know for I have noticed they tilt down, but I don’t use that feature so will try to move the mirror select button to center position to see if that disabled the tilt down feature. At some point down the road, probably after warranty, the plastic gears in the mirror will fail from use and the mirror will lock up. No need for added wear and tear if not needed.
I guess, but I've had this feature in my past cars and they've never failed....ever.

^I love that feature. I use it every time when backing into a parking spot, which is pretty much every day I drive my car.

I use my rear view mirror and rear camera....mostly. First car I’ve had with rear camera so backing solely off the camera just is wierd to me for now. I’m only a few months into ownership so will adapt better. What I really like are the side cameras while pulling next to a curb. I plant my wheels very close to the curb without fear of scraping them. Best feature of cameras IMO.

I heard Todd installed a few tiny cameras around his new turbo...so he can watch them spool...release...spool...release...spool...release. LOLOLOL.

One more trick -- for obvious reasons, the wipers are tucked behind the hood in a way that you cannot lift the wipers. There is a service mode to move the wipers to the center of the windsheild to lift them --
Turn off the car, wait for a few seconds and move the wiper stalk upwards and wait for the wipers to move to the center of the windsheild.

Found this in another forum -- turn car off and within 20 seconds (before opening the door) hold the wiper switch in the mist position for 2 seconds. Wipers should reset when you restart the car, if not push the lever to the mist position again.

Just FYI for the 3.3TT( not sure about 2.0T) the Battery is in the trunk under the spare "donut" tyre.

Here's one that not too many folks know about.

The G70 alerts you when you think you are nodding off, etc. It shows the coffee cup symbol, etc. BUT...when it does that...it does a shot of oxygen into the cabin to help wake you up.

I don't know about the O2 but I did set it off once and it was right, time for a break

• The "Consider taking a break"
message appears on the LCD display
and a warning sounds in order
to suggest the driver to take a
break, when the driver’s attention
level is below 1.
• The Driver Attention Alert system
does not suggest the driver to take
a break, when the total driving time
is shorter than 10 minutes.
• The message appears on the LCD
display and warning sounds even if
you do not choose the Driver
Attention Alert system.

This thing has showed up multiple times especially on canyon/Hilly roads. I dont know what technology it uses to detect driver attention, but i didn't find it as useful as I thought it would be.

Interesting. I swear I saw a 3.3 with the battery under the hood. I know some have em in the trunk, but the one I saw at the dealer was a 3.3 awd elite and the battery was under the hood. Maybe it depends upon AWD? It is a weight thing, so that may contribute to location.

You probably saw the terminals under the hood. Physical battery is in the trunk.

Then I have to politely give my sales rep some flack since he says "there's the battery" when I brought up the "in the trunk" issue. I'll hopefully know first hand by March!

Not sure where I'd like it best... for durability, wherever the temp is best, for balance.. wherever it gives a better weight split. I suspect in the trunk SHOULD win, with it being lower. No matter, I can't change it.

Thanks!

Trunk is ok by me, I had a car with it under the back seat. Last one under the hood required a bit of disassembly to get to it.

You can exit paddle shifting (manual) mode by either pulling back on both paddles or by simply "toggling" the shifter into D position again. I find the latter method reacts faster.
in the new models you can simply hold the right paddle in and it will go back to auto shifting as well.
