  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

The nearest Genesis dealer to me will be a 178 mile round trip. Should I decide to purchase one I plan on trying to get them to waive the distance for the valet service. If not, I may just take it to the local independent I have been using for almost 20 years.

How about: 89 mi road trip in your brand new baby + free maintenance at your (hopefully) closer Hyundai service center (likely without valet available).

That is a possibility but driving around Denver is generally not a pleasant experience no matter what you are driving. ;) It is my understanding that service at Hyundai dealers will not be free since they are not part of Genesis.

This pic is from a recently posted ad on Cars.com. I wonder how many months this car sat at port to accumulate this much rust on the rotor? Yeah, it'll scrub off, just sayin... BUT BEAUTIFUL WHEEL EH?!?! Finally confirmed that the Prestige 3.3T RWD gets the 10-spoker! (y)

Just one rainy day here in Florida and you'll get the same rust in your parked car.
What I like of that picture is that is showing the 10 spoke rims on a G70 3.3T Prestige RWD.

I was going to say, one day of it sitting in the rain and not driving will do that. My Mazda has rotors like that all the time since the other vehicle is garaged. That’s iron for you.

Yeah, I suppose that's true. I still can't help but think of all the possible issues with cars sitting for months in an open lot (flat spots on tires and other unknown decay/aging). I know several here think there's nothing wrong with it and yeah the car has a good warranty. But I just don't want my new G70 to have been sitting in the elements for 6 months before I bought it (unless they gave me a heck of a deal! :D).

If only I didn't have to choose between those wheels and a heated steering wheel :(

All I want is a black or dark grey 3.3T AWD Sport with the 10-spokes.

Myrtle Beach Hyundai said they would be carrying the G70,no eta on when yet. My wife wants a Stinger but I want her to see the G70 in person first. We are also considering a BMW 340 grandsport or similar.

Maybe its me, but it does not bode well for Genesis IMO. Some States have cars showing up on lots, others are still fighting legal battles, I just saw a Lil Wayne Halftime show with the G70, but the online configurator is still nowhere to be found. This is by far the worst launch EVER! I think my $'s going to a Stinger or Alfa.

Tires don’t really flat spot in that amount of time anymore. But I know what you’re saying.

Swapping the 10 spoke wheels on would be a helluva lot easier than installing a heated steering wheel. Personally I’ll probably run a set of lightweight 18” square wheels on the 6MT Sport and only run the OEM 19’s sparingly. And then 18” winters of course.

I saw the G70s today (didn't choose to drive them) and the Siberian Ice is really my favorite. I've been considering the G70 vs an Audi A5 Sportback. A quick overview was that the 3.3t interior felt tighter than the Audi A5 and the quilted sport seats were firm, but comfortable. The Audi interior looks more modern and refined and you can't beat the Virtual Cockpit. The G70 trunk is very small, so it's a big compromise for my needs. It's currently selling for MSRP and comparing this to a discounted Audi makes it a less compelling argument.

Honestly, unless Audi jacks the prices up on the '19s, I'm probably going for an A5 sportback. Their 4 cylinder performance slots nicely between the Genesis 2.0 and 3.3 motors and is probably enough power. But the G70 is still a good choice when you consider the included service and warranty values.
I’m also tossing between these two... at this point seems we can get A5 Prestige a few grand below msrp which will probably come out a right along the lines of the G70. It’s really a toss up, both cars are so beautiful! But holding out to see how the G70 leases prices stack up too. I’m in love with the Audi virtual cockpit and on the other hand, the genesis maintenance coverage is a huge win too. This is tough...

As cool as the Alfa is (my buddy had a Quad. and his brother with a C6 ZO6 who is very much a very good driver said the steering was one of the best he’s experienced), the dealer network is probably scarier than the reliability itself.

I remember another buddy who was looking between a C63S and the Quad. and the local MB dealer let us take a $90k C63S out no questions asked (he dressed the part and talked the talk), but before we drove to an Alfa dealership, they’re like, “we need to run your credit before you can test drive it.”

I get it and how potential owners don’t want any miles on them, but at the same time, not everyone buying one has 20 cars and shrugs at $80k. And when the competition lets you drive their more expensive cars, that doesn’t bode well either.

Somehow I just knew someone would refute that... tough crowd! I'm sure some smart person can come up with a list of not so good things that happen to a car sitting in a lot for 6 months.

Haha no it’s not ideal, but it won’t kill a brand new car either. Not good for suspension components, engine and trans seals, engine oil itself past 6-9 months, UV damage. It’s far worse storing a car for winter for 6 months without driving it at all after it’s been driven a thousand miles a month or more. But then salt isn’t good either.

I always use my car outside, I don't have an indoor track and it sits outside 8-10hrs/day when I'm at work. I really hope it can survive a couple of months outside or I'm going to be pissed.

Cars have not been sitting for 6 months. That was a myth.

I hope you're right. I haven't heard much about build dates of the cars now for sale. So as more people report the build dates, we'll have a better indication of how long they've been stored. Either way, I'm waiting a few months to get a better deal and possibly a newer new car.

Month and Year of creation is within the VIN.

The VIN is standard...but different manufacturers use different parts to denote the build date.

We can all see the VIN’s...so let’s start deciphering!!
