  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

We're like a month away in Pennsylvania, one of the last states onboard. What is the build date of cars coming through now? Are they newer than the initial batch?

From what we heard a week or so ago, they are early June builds. At least that is what the member here who works for a dealer said the shipment they are getting will be.

June '18 still? I hope they have later production available by February. Maybe it's minor, but I like to think I'm getting the latest revision.

Hoping the same. I'm expecting to get mine around that date and I wouldn't like to get a 6+ months old car.

My guess is that all of the 2019 G70s we see will have been made last Spring and Summer. With the dealer situation and what appears to be low sales, there probably was/is no need to manufacture any more for this year. Besides recalls (which I don't think we have had), there probably wouldn't be any difference in the cars manufactured later in the year anyway besides software updates which would be done on cars manufactured earlier.

My local dealer, Genesis of West Columbia, has increased their inventory from an initial shipment a week ago of 3 to 7 2019 models. 4 G70's and 3 G80's.

The two metro area dealers now have a total of 15 2019 G70. G80, G90 models.
New 2019 Genesis For Sale In Columbia SC

South Carolina's four dealers, Spartanburg (4), Hilton Head (14), and two in the Columbia area (15) have a total inventory of 33. :alright:

In-laws are in Spartanburg...cool. The fact that they have cars before Richmond, VA is f’ing mind blowing.

My car which I just got last week has a build date of late May. Checked it over with a fine tooth comb and it looks perfect however even in every crevice I can look into. Kinda disappointed it’s been sitting for so long but I doubt I’ll see any effect from it practically

I should also add that it wasn’t at the dealership for more than 8 hours before it was mine so it was definitely sitting somewhere other than that for a hell of a long time and it wasn’t a dealer transfer

Columbus, OH expecting vehicles in February of 2019, according to the Hyundai/Genesis dealership I visited today. I test drove the Stinger GT2 at an adjoining Kia dealership and that car is much better in person than on paper or screen. Approximately $10K off remaining 2018's is very tempting!

That is so disappointing. I've called both dealerships at separate times and was told November (In October), December (In November) and I I've since given up calling and decided it will be there when it gets there and I may or may not be in the market.

Honestly, by the time it gets to Columbus we will probably know almost everything about the new TLX with the new turbo six that is scheduled to be unveiled at NYIAS in April.

I'd be lying if I said I'm not tempted to wait for that. Acura must have high expectations since they're testing against the Audi S4 and 2019 MB C43 (385/384 hp/tq).

We got 2 G70s last Saturday. With around 7 more inbound next month, 4 of which are already sold with deposits taken.

It's still going to have FWD driving dynamics except when on power!

Hmmm... Nice! I had no idea about the upcoming TLX. I'll have to read up on it a bit more. Thanks for the link.

If they follow the 6 year cycle of the TL, the new one would be a 2021 model.

The link above says 2020 model for the TLX so Fall 2019 seems to be the likely release date.

Just did some digging about Honda's/Acura's SH-AWD system, and I agree with NLJ. Looks like it is a FWD based system, but has some unique characteristics. So far, it seems the most torque it can bring to the rear is 70%; however, the system is able to do some pretty good torque vectoring, and can shift all of that power (on the rear end) to the outside wheels during hard cornering. Reminds me of the Ford Focus RS. There is quite a bit of diversity among models with the 'SH-AWD' badge, it seems, and some seem to have a significantly different AWD system than others despite having the same badging.

Either way, this looks like it was all designed by Honda/Acura, but I could be wrong (ie outsourcing could be a thing). An interesting system, for sure though.

Personally, I'm more excited about the G70's HTRAC - though it would be nicer to have it with an E-Diff on the rear that could utilise the same torque vectoring as Honda's system. That would be sweet.

I'm interested in the new TLX also, but it's probably going to be Accord size which is longer than I wanted. Plus, Acura's touchpad interface doesn't get good reviews.

Then again, if they follow the Genesis format for a new model release it will be April 2020. :rolf::roflmao::nonono::bash:
Might beat G70 to Columbus for all I know. Also agree previously split on 5/6 year cycles on TL/TSX but no way they unveil April 2019 for 2021 model year. RDX dropped at NYIAS last year and available this past fall.
