  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

There are a few sites that reference Genesis' coupe with the naming convention of GC80, perhaps that is what he is referring to.

Ah. Thanks for that.

seems like the mountain west is going to be the last region left without cars? nobody in colorado knows shit.

Yes, nothing official concerning Colorado yet. About six months ago it looked like there would only be two dealers in the state, McDonlad and Arapahoe. This can change of course but hopefully we see something soon.

Phil Long Hyundai Chapel Hill told me they would be one of only two in Colorado a few weeks ago. Only the Chapel Hill location will be a dealer, their motor city location won't be. I figured he was wrong about being one of two but that makes three assuming he was right about his own dealership.

Nothing is set in stone, things can change. Who knows, maybe in the end we will end up with 5 or 6. Hopefully one day soon I will see info on at least one. ;)

Come up and see us if you want to drive a 3.3. We've already sold 15 or so G70s, and still have 6 on our lot, and 10 more coming in this month. A lot bigger selection than Napleton will ever have.

Good way to drive traffic to your site. Also appreciate the sales figures. I'm happy to hear people are buying these. Napleton (Carmel) is <15 mins from me, so I went to test drive the 3.3T there first. I'll keep you guys in mind, because it certainly looks like you have a bigger selection.

Any updates on when stock will be available in Ohio? Really appreciate the way you've kept all of us informed (Genesis should hire you for their communications team).

In case it helps, two more Ohio dealers have been issued a dealer code - Brunswick and Dublin.

Excellent..
Brunswick right down the street from me..
I called them months ago and salesman said he had received many inquiries and had no knowledge of when they would receive cars...then he went on a rant about how bad this roll out has been..

If things proceed with them like they did with Cleveland you should see inventory within two weeks or so.

Do dealers have any influence on which cars/trims they get for their initial stock?

Maybe, we have heard from a larger dealer that they were able to request some specific configurations in their initial allocation and got most of them. We have also heard that some dealers have no control over their initial and even supplemental allocations. Genesis uses a points system that determines whether and how dealers can request specific items.

I am in LA... I expressed strong interest in the car via the Genesis website and in follow ups with a couple of dealers... I got a bunch of emails initially asking me if I wanted to look at another car, a G80 or a Hyundai... but now I haven't heard from any dealer in at least 3 weeks... I take this to mean LA will not be getting this car anytime soon, otherwise some salesperson would be smart to be staying in touch with me regularly. I guess in the car biz I am a pretty unusual buyer these days in that I am not in a lease with a deadline. Probably car salespeople figure a "lead" is only good for a few weeks at most.

Still, given all the accolades for this car, I'm pretty surprised by this situation. Especially also given that LA is such a style bellwether AND has a huge Korean population that is inclined to prefer Korean cars.

Meanwhile, with all this time passing, in my particular case I have been researching other cars and gotten very interested in the Audi A4. So perhaps the salespeoples' logic is correct -- if you don't sell to that contact within a few weeks, then don't bother; just move on to other contacts.

So far no dealers in the immediate LA area but we are up to 18 dealers in CA with dealer codes and a few showing inventory.

Dealers with 2019s

GENESIS OF GLENDALE has a dealer code according to your list and I believe it would be considered in the LA area (8 miles from downtown, not that that means much in LA).

Thanks for the info. You guys prompted me to check the date of the last communication I had from Hyundai of Glendale (which very much is part of LA). I may have deleted an email or two in the meantime, but the most recent email I have is from the end of December, with the salesperson/manager saying he'd be in touch with me when they have the car.

Anyway, so far as I can see, even when dealers in LA have the car they're only going to have a few of them so buyers are going to be stuck in a difficult situation, bargaining for a car that may not be quite what they want, at a price higher than what they were hoping for. At least that's my guess. I look forward to trying one though, even if I've already bought another car by then...

I don't see any reason why the dealers at LA (or the surrounding areas) will get a short inventory. The problem in California was to get licensed for selling cars just like many other States, as soon as that problem got resolved the dealers get their codes and the cars will flow to them. In Florida just one month after getting the license all dealers had a very good inventory. All dealers near me have at leat 20 cars each.

You could be correct, I'm just going off of a previous conversation on here. Maybe that was before Glendale.

If you mean that the dealers will not received one of every model/trim/color combination, you are correct. Of course, no dealers receive that amount of inventory bu there should be a good amount of inventory available to make sure you try the spec you want and maybe even in the the colors you want. If it doesn't exist on the lot then it can be requested.
