  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

Not going to happen.
It would probably take them a year or more to get the permission in some states, if at all. Then you have dealer lawsuits to contend with.

Tesla does it in some states, but not all. At least 6 do not allow it.
Right, there's no way that it would happen. Just speaking sarcastically and hypothetically! I like all the conversation that came of it though!

And OK, then how do they sell cars in those states then? You can't? I never knew that......

You can register them here in CT, but you have to travel to another state to buy it.

Better yet...everyone should send an email to Kevin Smith kdsmith@gma.com

He is the Senior Group Manager of PR and Corporate Social Responsibility.

Who knows what depth of knowledge he has...but only email I got.
This is what I sent to this GM:

Hi Kevin,

I am a member of the Genesis G70 forum and have been patiently and eagerly waiting for release information for the G70. First, there was the impending 4 press releases that at that time would comprehensively contain all of the release info. But the PR's came and went with no real meat in regards to price, release date, specific build options for each trim, etc. I don't even know if I'll be able to get the polished aluminum alloy wheel on the Prestige 3.3 trim (a requirement for me as I don't like the other wheels at all).

Hoping you can shed some light on the delays with some sort of press release stating the expected timeline. At present, Genesis has only said "Summer 2018" and we are dying on the vine with such minimal info. If you can't do a PR, then please have someone post in the forum to explain to your hopefully valued pre-customers as to why there is a delay and what you're doing to resolve it. Sorry, but we just need a little love from Genesis! I registered for G70 information on your website, but have not gotten even one email saying "thank you for your interest". There is only so much we can take before we consider the competition. For me, I am teetering between the G70 and the Audi A5 Sportback. Time will tell which way I end up going...

Thank you,
Tony

Most recent tweet from Genesis (30 minutes ago). Nothing about the G70

Please post any reply you receive!

Fortunately for me, I have a very reliable vehicle that I own outright. I don't have to worry about lease endings or my not having a car. I plan on trading this car in so every mile that ticks on the odometer means value drops and increased risk of an accident or other event to lower value. I can afford to wait because of my situation, but understand that many people here do not have that luxury as they have leases that are ending and need information ASAP. And plus I really just want the G70 LOL

No matter what information we receive from Genesis, this has been a fun time with y'all

Please post any reply you receive!
If any of us gets a reply, I think we should consider if that reply contains any information they would not want posted in a public forum. I really doubt they'd send anything company private or speculative, but I'd want to reserve the option to not post or paraphrase if I get a more candid reply.

As was stated earlier, best for all of us send a respectful note to try to get their attention.

I’ll you know if I hear anything other than “Late Summer 2018.”

“Wonderful car, but it’s a bit large for me.

I’m hoping to catch a few of the remaining sunsets in a G70.

Genesis USA, how many of the remaining sunsets might I be able to enjoy in a G70?

I do know all of you at Genesis USA are working hard to make that happen. Thank you for that and for your reply.”

Hey folks...I think we got something...haven't read it all.

It is dated July 26...but I have never seen it before. To add...look at the number in the URL...it is 109 and it the highest, etc. It actually looks like a summary of the 4 press releases.

Also note that "107" was skipped. Hmmmm.

Good article... excellent write-up of basically all the information we have right now; very comprehensive. However, it says nothing about pricing or release....

That's what I thought. I just went through it all myself. Waste of my time.

Still a good reference point for literally all the information we have about the G70.

Hmm! Agreed it appears to be a compilation of the 4 press releases. Didn't discern any new information relative to the key things everyone is wanting to know.
Here is the last release dated 08/01/18 with a URL designation of 108?

Of note on this new release is a continuing decline in sales. :censored:

Crazy how much they have dropped! They need to sort this dealer thing out as I am sure that is having a big impact.
Wonder if they prolong this much longer...if the numbers could sink the company. Not sure how big of a factor the USA sales are to keep the company alive, etc.

I imagine being part of Hyundai they are big enough that it isn't going to sink the company. Some of the stuff I have read makes it sound like they are trying to get the dealer thing done right for long term strength and image of the brand and not just for short term sales. In that regard I agree with them, but the delay and lack of communication is going to start to hurt the brand imo.

Just got this response from Genesis:

Dear Mr. 'redacted',

Thank you for taking the time to express your interest and enthusiasm for our upcoming, all-new 2019 Genesis G70. I can assure you, and if you’ve read some of the recent press reviews of the G70 those third party automotive experts can too, your interest in the G70 is very well placed.

We are working to bring the G70 to the US market as soon as possible. If you can restrain your enthusiasm a short while longer and wait to purchase a G70 when available, your patience will be rewarded with one of the finest luxury sport sedans available.

Well, at least you got a well-written (non-committal) response from Genesis. For me....I think it's time to lease a Honda Accord an see what happens to Genesis as a brand.

Side note - I think I read somewhere they barely sold over 700 cars last quarter. This dealer network issue is a shame.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

Not at all worried about that. Plenty of strength behind it corporate wise. The word has been Aug/Sept so nothing to get upset about unless you want to buy one right away. Sure, we want today, but no broken promise until Sept 21 if not for sale. Genesis said "summer" and it is still summer.
