  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

PSA: Just spoke to the assistant GM of the largest Hyundai dealership in Ohio (G90/ priority dealer) and he just told me that Ohio still isn't licensed for sales as of yesterday. He also said nothing is allocated to their store at all, so Ohio is gonna be a minute before they even see ANY Genesis vehicles.
You're killing me BrainDoc, I'm in Columbus, oh well, just means Indy or Pittsburgh (Ugh) will get my business if I like the G70 as much as I think I will. I hate the idea of driving three hours for a test drive to find out.

I know, I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I'm pretty close to Michigan, so I may end up going north if they have their act together before Ohio. :-(

Appreciate the heads up rather than waiting impatiently when other states eventually get their allocations. It's actually a shorter drive to go to Michigan as well depending on where the Genesis dealership is, and a chance to stop by BG (undergrad alma mater) for some food... Time to start looking.

I'm pretty close to BGSU, can you reccomend anything to eat/do as a must if I drive past?

Thanks!

Easy...Pollyeyes, get the chicken and cheese breadsticks with ranch.
Excellent, just googled it and it looks wonderful. All my schooling tells me not to eat there and the long term outcomes, but my stomach overrides all other commands. Thanks for the recommendation!

"In addition to the U.S., Genesis is sold in Korea, China and the Middle East, as well as a couple of Southeast Asia markets and Australia."

Looks like the reporter missed at least one market: Eh, Canada.
And Russia...which is partially Europe.

In addition to missing Canada and Russia, the article got a good # of other countries wrong.

Genesis hasn't launched yet in Australia (similar to the delay here) and haven't heard of it having launched in China (lack of sales data would seem to confirm that).

May be overlooking a small SE market (like Singapore), but haven't heard of Genesis launching anywhere there as well yet.

Pardon me for continuing this OT conversation, but I watched Monday Night Football last night. I must have missed the 10-15 sec. clip. I guess Genesis is paying just to have their name repeated throughout the halftime. I don't know enough about the science of advertising to know if that is an efficient use of ad dollars; maybe it is.

Here is my guess. Genesis paid the NFL and committed to sponsor the MNF half time shows commercial free for the season. They probably negotiated this way back and expected the G70 would have been announced. Now MNF is here, but the G70 is not due to issues discussed with license and dealer agreeements. So they had to scramble to put together a mystical commercial showing the silhouette of the car to drum up intrigue. As release info gets announced, the dark commercial will begin to show a bright and shiny G70! My guess is that may happen before the next MNF! One can hope!!

Pretty much this.

The G70 and 2019 G80 and G90 were supposed to have been on the lots for several months by now.

Have been a bit dubious about Hyundai's sponsorship of the NFL (being the official auto brand of the NFL), as payment such a large sum of $$ to simply have your logo displayed isn't a great use of ad dollars (tho, not as nearly as disastrous as Chevy's boondoggle w/ Manchester United).

And evidently, Hyundai thinks so as well, as they are spending even more $$ to run commercials during NFL games.

And that's already on top of Hyundai having paid the NFL more $$ over Genesis - there was a dispute when Genesis became a separate brand.

Lexus and Genesis are in different leagues for now.

Incredible - I think I've seen one or two on the road since inception. NOBODY willing to part with that much dough for a Kia - end of story.

Think the Stinger is doing OK - selling about 1,500 a month which isn't that far off what the Genesis sedan was doing in its heyday.

In addition, they are selling more GT, GT1 and GT2 models than they were anticipating.

1,500 monthly is impressive if that is accurate. I just never see any and if the talk of huge discounting already is true, I doubt the they're moving enough. Genesis has to be losing customers with this situation. How long do they think consumers will wait before going elsewhere - plenty of competitive cars out there sitting in dealer lots.

For getting those Stinger numbers they had to make huge discounts (around $5500 or more off MSRP) I don't think that's good at all.

5,500 on the top end model is roughly 10%. I can negotiate that on Lexus models that sell themselves.

$5500 w/o negotiation. I can get another $3000 after negotiating with one of my nearest Kia dealers.

Well time sure flies. Like everyone else...I was expecting July...latest Aug...definitely not Sep. And here we are.

Thing is...my warranty officially ended on Sep 12. So if anything happens to my A4...I am f'd.

If this thing does not come out soon...I will be forced to get something else. What a shame. Now I will be on edge, etc. Fvck !!

Could be worse. I don't even have a car right now. For the last month I've been doing this weird 3 way car pooling/swapping thing.

I believe you said that they told you 1-2 weeks, or maybe 'a few weeks' or something for the online configurator and prices. It's already a week so I'm hoping to see that pretty soon. They did send the brochures as promised after all. Who knows..

This is why resale values on Hyundai/Kia products are awful. It's fine as long as you know that up front and get the right price out the door and also plan to keep the car long-term.

Well...now I am pissed at Genesis. Up until now it was nothing but frustration. Here in VA...we have to do yearly car inspections. Mine expired at the end of Aug. I was holding on to see what happens. Well...I had to get it done since you can get a ticket, etc.

So I went and got my inspection...and failed. I have to buy new rubber. So waiting on freaking Genesis has now actually cost me money. Fvck these useless pylons.

I think it’s safe to say if Genesis does not announce pricing this week, then it’s confirmed that it’s been delayed again because Fall starts September 22 which is this Saturday. It sucks that you have to go through this.

Look elsewhere. Who knows how long this nonsense will go on.
