  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

A lot of reviewers have confirmed that the G70 would be on sale in August, and there is a YouTube interview where a higher-up in Genesis USA said it would be available within 2 months. So I'd think they'll announce pricing soon. I'm not very experienced in how timelines for car releases play out, but it seems like Genesis is cutting it close for an August launch. In terms of a to-do list, there's still at least announcing pricing, opening pre-orders, announcing participating dealerships, and delivering first stock across the country. It seems like release will either be messy or very gradual over the next few months, with the August date being the soonest available date.

With all the talk of Pre-Orders, my advice again is DONT DONT DONT.

In the past, ive Pre Ordered (special ordered) two cars. Something not to my liking both times. Dealer say "oh we can fix that" but they don't or can't. One other time, I purchased through a dealer trade.

Once dealer has your deposit, you are SOL. You either take it ore you lose your deposit.

ONLY BUY FROM STOCK.

Thank you, ctrcbob, for the reminder.

I agree with your advice.

Although my overall Hyundai dealer experience has been very postive, I agree that buying a vehicle that’s right there and ready to drive off the lot puts the buyer (pun intended) in the driver’s seat.

The one time I asked the salesperson to get a certain vehicle from another dealer it was a pain...uncertain when it would show up and the so-called “Costco” price was a terrible deal. I went to another dealer about 20 miles away who had a much larger inventory and drove home with a lower priced vehicle that had what I wanted.

I'd also either get a new frame for the license plate, or a tow hook mount to make it off center.

GAWD, that's butt ugly??? Out in Washington we have the "deniers" who refuse to put the front plate on their cars and what most of them do is jam the front license plate against the windshield in from of the right front passenger seat. I thought that was butt ugly until I saw this installation.

They obviously didn't know how to do their job, my current car I pre-ordered and my previous I dealer traded for it. I do a lot of deals with pre-ordered vehicles and a lot with dealer trades, unless the customer is a pain in the ass, there is usually no problem with that as long as the other dealer they are getting the car from agreed to trade vehicles. Costco Membership pricing is more of a Perk to getting a Membership than anything else, I can give you a breakdown of costco vs invoice price on a lot of units that we sell, and Costco will save you no more than 400-500$ unless it's a 60k+ car in which case it MIGHT get close to 900-1000, but that's pretty much it. Funny how people expect to get 2-3k+ off for paying 60$/yr for a membership, that's not how this works at all.

Genesis would love to sell out the first day the G70's hit the dealers, but I don't get why ANYONE would want to be the first on their block to show up in a G70. I can almost guarantee, the first month there won't be any discounts on the G70. Not because it's a great car, but because they can. Initially I'm also guessing they're be tricked out for the most part so i you want a striped stick shift, forget about it. Wonder if there even will be a stick shift model for the US? I'll take the 8 speed auto any day of the week. I'm dreading the first stick shift model I see where some hillbilly has replaced the mufflers and put in a 3000W sub woofer.

Sounds like a good deal to get $800-$1000 off by getting a Costco $60 card.

How limited will supply be? The G70 has been in other markets for a year, so it's not like production is still in startup phase. And who knows, maybe US buyers won't rush out to buy a small sedan from a mostly unknown brand, no matter how good it is. It's possible sales will be slow initially and then build on reputation.

Probably more of a transportation issue than production. There was talk that the cars were in port but I'm not sure that was verified. Hard to say if they will sell fast but marketing should have some idea of expectations based on Canada.

While Genesis is a “luxury” car, I do think that how Hyundai produces and allocates trim lines within a model may provide some idea on what we may see.

When we started looking to replace our 2011 Tucson with a 2017 Tucson, our local small Hyundai dealer had the same tiny inventory it had 6 years before while the larger dealer 15 miles away that we bought the 2011 at still had the same large inventory it had 6 years prior.

As far as trim lines within the model, they actually had LESS of the more expensive “Sport” model we were targeting and a ton of the base “SE” models.

I am confident that the Genesis USA people have some idea of what they think may actually sell. Those of us on this forum are really not their concern. We already know more about the G70 than 95% of the Genesis salespeople. They need to reach a bigger group of customers than those of us that already know the G70 is the real deal.

Genesis needs something like the Super Bowl to make the public aware of the Genesis line.

Genesis has stated that they are the luxury car brand of the NFL... so hopefully when Thursday, Sunday, and Monday Night Footballs roll around there will be some good ads that appear

The cars are in the ports. See the shipping details here: Hyundai Importer Data in USA :Allinfo. The inventory confirms that G70's are at the ports. We lack a breakdown of how many G70's are in each shipment.

Why on all those import reports does it say "Genesis G90" but "Hyundai G70"? What's the reasoning for that? Any ideas?

Good question. Similar question as my previous post as to why it shows Hyundai DH instead of G80.

Possibly has to do with official branding of the vehicles? OR maybe to try and throw "sniffers" like us off the trail? But that wouldn't make sense for the G80 because its already released... I dont know man. Just another mystery surrounding Genesis I guess LOL

Interesting link. However, it seem to indicate most vehicles won't be in ports until Sept. For example, the closest to me would be Tacoma where is shows 1198 vehicles on Sept 5 2018.

Nope... Look again; the dates are the non-US standard of dates... In US, it is Month/Day/Year. But outside the US, most countries do Day/Month/Year...

So, those vehicles actually arrived May 9, 2018. This is evidenced by some of the dates being 27/06/2018 (which is June 27, 2018)

...and here I was thinking my dealer was BS'ing me when he said cars were at port last month.

Can you imagine 27 months in a year? The wait for Christmas would be crazy! 😀
