  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

Wanted to throw one more thing out there in regards of dealerships getting cars. It has been 100% confirmed that VA is the first State to have ready dealerships. One of the dealers in NOVA is the very first dealership in the country that will get cars.

Yet...none of the managers at the VA dealerships see any allocations, etc. They didn't even know about pricing yesterday...they found out like we did.

Several of them said that they would not be surprised if trucks just showed up with G70's. I was in shock. They said that has happened before.

So...I sure hope dealerships find out something today or tomorrow...which would officially be "this week" as the release said. If not...that would be freaky if trucks just showed up. If they do...I will be right there to get one. Assuming they have my color scheme and they do not upcharge.

Any info on whether we can just build to order one or is the best way to go to just pick one of the ones that they get?

Also do you think we are absolutely stuck paying sticker in VA? I was hoping we could negotiate a couple thousand dollars under msrp if I agree to a trade in and financing with them.

It's hard to sort out how much of a discount you're getting if you also trade. I would doubt that, initially, they'd be taking a couple of grand off of MSRP, independent of trade value. Financing through them may ave you a bit. But we'll have to wait and see, I guess. Anything is possible.

That is pretty shocking. Let's hope things start rolling forward.

From what I've heard, and this is from an unconfirmed source, is that dealers in all but 3 states will start receiving cars this/next week. IN, IL, and WI are the 3 states that won't be getting them yet. Supposedly, there is 1 dealer here in IN that is still trying to sue Genesis, even though they are going to be able to continue selling them. That's the hold up here in IN.

That makes sense as to why I can't get a straight answer out of any of the dealers here in Indianapolis. I pinged them all and the best answer I can get is "1-2 months, maybe."

One of them then tried to get me to buy a Stinger GT2 at MSRP. Please.

I know what dealership this is, I mentioned this in a post before, I spoke with the sales manager and am on his list he claims is 30 ppl deep - but it seems to directly contradict the guy you spoke to saying Georgia and some other was the first state to have the cars?

What’s also a bit crazy is that there are 18 trim lines, allowing for RWD and AWD versions, plus the 4 versions of the launch editions...that’s before factoring up to 8 colors and seat colors.

Theoretically, it’s nice to have all these supposed “choices” but how in the world do they allocate all that?

Anyone have any idea (or even an educated guess) on how many US G70s have actually rolled out of Korea, and hopefully, arrived here, at this point in time?

They have pretty amazing capacity as per this interesting article on the Ulsan plant.

Yeah...that was very puzzling to me. The guy stating GA was Kevin Smith...who is in PR. He is the guy that releases all the press releases, etc. I can only assume he is wrong. Who knows.

Mr. Dawson (reporting to Emanuel directly) is the guy that told me pricing in ~2 weeks (he was dead on) and cars being released right after. He was also the guy that went into depth about what States are still applying for license and the different stages of the process. So I trust him more for sure.

Well, once they do start rolling in, I imagine we'll be getting a majority of them. We were the #1 selling Genesis dealer last year in the region (181 dealers), and we sell as many Genesis as the rest of our district does combined.

TBF it wasn't your dealership that tried that trick. I'm on the Westside and willing to drive up there for test drive / purchase experience as soon as you have stock.

I wonder why these 3 states? Expected lower volumes or still pending agreements with Hyundai?

The same reason a bank or any other financial institution would want me to take out a loan with them? It is, statstitically, as low risk as it gets, yet still profitable for them, right?

Wouldn't they still prefer me to finance through "Genesis Financial" vs paying for the car cash outright? I'm still paying fees and interest vs. paying for the car cash out of my savings or going to my own financial institution and using them.

I realize it's not going to be a massive discount or anything, but it's just something else I can at least try to use to my advantage regardless of how minimal of an advantage it really is.
So Genesis Financial and the dealerships are two different entities. When your car is discounted (apart from incentives) that comes out of the dealerships pocket. They don't make that up just because you finance through them. Genesis Financial will make more, but the dealership won't unless they're marking up your interest rate, which would be poor form since your credit score is so high. Maybe you'll get lucky, but I highly doubt it. If they all functioned as one, then I could see your point.
Are these tiers set in stone? The only feature not available in the 37K AWD version that I really want is the upgraded 15 speaker sound system, but it looks like they want 42k in the next tier just to get that upgraded sound. It's frustrating you can't just one off the upgraded sound unless you order the car custom.

I also think it's absurd if you want a wireless charging pad you have to go all the way up to 46K from 37K in the 2.0 model to get it as well.

I know I sound like a complainer but whoever chose these packages should have allowed for more flexibility.
Yep it's set. That's how Genesis does it. I actually prefer this than the way Mercedes does it. Just let me pick something that has everything and call it a day. I hate the whole, well if you get this option you have to delete this one, etc.

Don't know how Genesis Financial works but with some finance sources, they pay dealerships a premium for bringing in finance business. The dealership can pass some of this premium on to the customer. With my last car purchase, my sales rep, who was a very straight shooter, told me he could give me a better deal if I financed. I told him I wanted to pay straight up. He said that what he recommended was financing a minimal amount (I forget what it was now), making an initial payment, and then just paying off the balance. He used that routinely as a way of getting a better bottom-line price for customers who preferred an outright purchase. I suspect that doing it this way helped get price approval from the sales manager. I don't know how universal this practice is, but clearly a lot of dealerships push buyers toward a specific finance source and I'm pretty sure that's because they get some cash for doing so.

There is almost always some type of corporate incentive for either leasing or financing. You can check the website or Edmund’s to see the current programs. So it’s almost always better than to just do straight cash. You can always pay off the loan or lease in a few weeks. Or you can refinance with your own lender. In any case you get the incentive.

As long as IL starts receiving them eventually! I'm not in the market for a car right now, but I would really like to test drive a 6MT Sport.

I won't swear to this, but the story used to be that if the dealer sold a customer on a higher than target interest rate, the dealer got the difference. IOW, if you qualify for a 5% rate and the dealer can sell you a 7% rate, he got the extra 2%. One of those dirty little secrets of the trade.

Dealer reps here may feel free to dispute this ...

I am not interested in the 3.3, I want the 2.0 for 37K and might just have to deal

That can't be legal can it? Fair lending violation.

I don’t see what is illegal or unfair here. Nothing is misrepresented here. He gives you a price and interest rate. You can take it, leave it or negotiate. There is no law that says you have to get a certain interest rate if you have a certain credit score. It’s up to you to know your score and what competitive financial institutions are offering.

This is exactly why car sales people have a bad reputation. Why can't they just be upfront and honest? Why is there so much greed at every level? Ugh.
