  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

I would really want a G70 I’ll wait a few more months but if they don’t seem to be coming out anytime soon then I’ll start considering other options. What other cars would you guys recommend that are similar to the G70?

Although it’s kind if boring, there’s a lot of value to having a car that will start up with no issues 99.999 % of the time.

My experience with 3 Hyundais has been unprecedented. Seems like the Chrsylers and Saturns I had in the 1990s and 2000s always had an issue of some kind. The only things “wrong” with my 2011 Elantra are the beige cloth seats that are hard to keep clean and I wish it had a 3.3T, otherwise, outstanding reiability and dependability.

That’s what make the G70 so attractive to me: same great reliability but faster and with better (actually G70’s quilted Nappa are the best available, in my opinion) seats.

Audi’s...S4 or inflated S5 Sportback.

Absolutely agree...hate the front.
Respectfully disagree, I think the Giulia is stunning from any direction. One my my co-workers leased one and is trying to persuade me to join the club. He's only had it for 4 months and has to take it in to get a speaker replaced.

I live in the DC Metro area (Genesis of Chantilly is the closest dealer to me) and am interested in the 6MT. In over 25 years of driving I've only owned manual cars but could be persuaded to look at one of the AT models depending upon features and of course, the driving experience. I'm prepared to wait a few months to see how this all shakes out but plan to visit Genesis of Chantilly this weekend to see if any cars showed up this week.

Well...everyone has their taste. Based on the fact you love the looks and probably performance...be warned that they flat out suck. Unreliable as hell. Go with that. Your money.

Yeah, you should buy the same car even though it is starting to go to crap already. I hope you read the link posted earlier. Your money, but I'd not touch one unless it was a display, never to be driven.

German cars from what I seen and read aren’t the most reliable cars out there and repairing cost will be a lot so I want to stay away from them.
They have improved...but I would like to be with warranty. Not without.

If only Acura and Lexus got their act together and started producing better looking and performing vehicles. I'll admit Audi and BMW have fallen into the bland mobile trap too, but I expect more style from something I'm paying 50-60K for. It seems every car comes with serious compromises. The G70 seems to be the exception, but it is at the moment, vaporware (in the US).

Ah, but that’s the compromise!

Guys, don't get me wrong, I like the Giulia but due to its well documented problems, I'd only ever consider a short-term lease. Ideally I'd like to get the G70 Sport MT, but it depends on how stripped it is and the test drive experience.

It's too bad Acura lost its way and differentiation as the sporty/lux Japanese option. Oh, the days of the Integra, then the reasonably fun TSX and TL Type S 6MT...

Wow...what a nightmare. They were in the USA in the 70’s an 80’s. Thought things would be different this time around. Nope. Shitty ass company. Fuckem...they need to disappear until they figure things out. Shame. Hot car other than ugly front.
I tend to think that Chrysler should've been allowed to go under instead of Fiat/government rescue. They could've sold off the Jeep and Ram divisions and we would've been spared all the "rental cars" they've produced since.

Would've left some room for return of Peugeot/Citroen instead! J/k [sort of]

I think Acura is starting to make strides based on the new RDX and ridding themselves of the beak. They're also planning to bring back the Type S moniker with a turbo V-6 combined with SH-AWD.
Acura Announces the Return of Type S and New Turbo V-6 Engine | News | Car and Driver

An update to the two screen layout (a la new RDX infotainment system), that engine paired with SH-AWD could make them competitive again (Outside of the SUV world where they are very relevant). They also need to move to the 10AT from the 9-speed in the TLX that was terrible to drive when I was last in the market.

Looks like there are some serious amateur web designers over at Genesis. Like...really bad.

So...if you look at the G70 page that links off the main page...something changed and they have visible html/xml...look at the "horsepower" verbiage over the "252".

Next...if you go to the old page (www.genesis.com/us/en/genesis-g70.html) ...it redirects to a 3rd new page...but this link is nowhere to be found/accessible throughout the site (note the root "content" folder)...
2019 Genesis G70

Looks like their web peeps should be fired...along with the top execs as well.

All the budget went into not releasing the car on time, June/July press, and of course the Genesis Half Time show. Gonna have to the cut cost somewhere..

I don't see this in Google Chrome; maybe it's a browser issue.

Well with how long the G70 is taking in the US, next week BMW is going to show the 2019 3 series at the Paris auto show. Supposed to be at dealerships in the new year. It sounds like they have made big improvements over the last generation. Plus it may be available before the G70 :p
