  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

Well with how long the G70 is taking in the US, next week BMW is going to show the 2019 3 series at the Paris auto show. Supposed to be at dealerships in the new year. It sounds like they have made big improvements over the last generation. Plus it may be available before the G70 :p

Yep...same squiggles around the word.

I work for a Fortune 500 company and if we were to mess up a product launch this badly, heads will be rolling like you wouldn't believe. Initial hype is where we make the best margins while Genesis is losing customers let alone charging price premiums.

I work for a top 20 company...and same. To add...if I push that bad HTML to production...my head would come off.

I’ve been interested in the new 3 series, but never imagined I would get a chance to look at it before G70 was released. With the 3 series debut in Paris next week it will likely deter potential G70 customers. Another misstep from Genesis. Also, the new 330i will likely still run circles around the 2.0T G70 all while offering a well-appointed 6 speed manual transmission and not a stripped down G70 MT.

I wouldn't make any bets about [wide] manual availability in new 3-series.

Unfortunately, it'll probably be even more expensive than it already is. Plus, I would never want to own a BMW past the 4 year/50k mark when the "free" maintenance goes away.

True about the price, but why would you worry about something 4 years/50K away? That is longer than most people keep their new cars. I have mentioned before that I have owned 4 BMW's in the past 12ish years and all but one I owned past the point of the warranty and not one issue with any of them out of warranty. I always found I had electrical gremlins in the first few years and after that the cars were solid. Not so say they wouldn't get expensive to own years later, but again not my problem.

I don’t know about all the chatter that BMW is somehow unreliable after a few years. The most recent vehicle dependability study in February put Hyundai in 7th and BMW in 8th (these are for 2015 MY vehicles at 3 years of ownership). Hyundai is likely to drop further due to all the problems with the 2.0T and 2.4L engines (I work at a dealer and we’ve replaced right at 100 - not a typo - engines just in my facility alone). Maybe BMW gets an unfair assesment by the public based on old data? I really don’t know - but it seems to me that to characterize BMW as unreliable is not accurate or fair.

That's true. I tend to keep my cars longer than both of those numbers, that's why.

Have they made revisions to the 2.0T in the Stinger/G70 since the "original" 2.0T Genesis Coupe? I know VW/Audi's 'revised' 2.0T's had a whole new set of problems hahaha.

BTW...I just wanted to point out that the 2018 A4 can be had with a manual.

I refuse to quit driving manuals, but it looks like in the next 5-10 years, unless I'm buying a sports car or something like a Miata, used may be the only option for manual...

My current A4 is my first automatic ever. Missed it at first...but grew to love it.

These slush boxes are so amazing these days that I’m good with it.

For those getting blue balls who have never sat in a G70, it seems like they are making a tour across the US auto shows, starting with Anaheim, Miami, SF, Phoenix, then LA this year. Just got this info in an email from Genesis about their outing at Monterey car week. You might not get to see one in the dealers this year so why not 😭

One day I'll be forced to agree.

I own a 2010 genesis coupe and had the turbo blow at 30k miles, replaced all under warranty. After 2013 I believe they just changed the turbo, from a single scroll to a double. However since I had my turbo replaced, I’ve put another 50k miles on it with no issues (tuned for 40k of the 50k miles). I’ll be trading in my baby for the G70 but I have NO issues with reliability especially since I had the first model year of a new car (which I’m doing again with the g70)
