  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

I don't remember how far back it was but someone was asking for alternatives to the G70. I just discovered the A5 has 4 doors starting 2018 and looks pretty nice. Another option if you are tired of waiting.
A5 is a beauty and the sportback has the liftback which I can really use. I'm not sure if I want to spend the extra $$ to get all the options that Genesis includes in the Prestige trim.

That any dealership anywhere actually has real G70 cars listed on a website is one very small bit of progress.

A couple of observations: 1) All the 3.3T are all listed as Sport. 2) The green, which would have to be the special edidtion is listed as a Sport, not Dynamic.

I went to my Hyundai dealer in Wichita (also was a Genesis dealer) Friday and asked about them. A couple months ago they told me that they weren't going to be a Genesis dealer but that was before they changed their minds. They are now going to be one but are waiting on the state of Kansas to approve the dealer license. I asked about timing on the G70 and they said November or December but I didn't really think that they had any idea.

I am starting to look for my next car (driving a 2012 Sonata Limited 2.0) and drove a used 3.8 G80 Ultimate, a 2013 Audi S6 (wanted to see what the engine was all about), a 2018 Audi SQ5 Prestige and a 2019 Acura RDX Advance. The Genesis was nice but the engine didn't excite me at all compared to the others. The S6 engine was intoxicating and the SQ5 really impressed me overall. Fully loaded MSRP was a bit over $68k though... THe RDX was probably the most surprising. The ride was really engaging and the ELS Stereo was amazing (Audi's B&O was quite nice too).

I'm excited to drive the G70 but am afraid that it will be a bit too small for me (needs to fit a couple of teenagers in back from time to time). I'm kind of intrigued with the BMW M550i and thinking of waiting until next year and buying a used one for mid 50's. Decisions, decisions....

I was also waiting for the G70, but here in Canada we have had it for a while. Loved loved loved the car but in the end was just a little to small for my needs. So into the G80 sport I went..... I can not tell you how happy I am.
Fast, smooth, comfort, quiet and does handle nicely when pushed hard. I thought it may be to big ..... I was wrong.

Cars.com now lists the G70 with some results in my 500 mile area. We're getting closer....

Nothing has changed at cars.com. The only dealer listing G70's is the Marlton NJ., regardless of what search area or the distance criteria used.

What is interesting about that was in the latest list of states ready for sales NJ was not one of them. I think the ones mentioned so far as being finalized were Virginia, Nevada, Georgia and Rhode Island. Could have missed some though.

Try changing the search criteria on the results page, it will show results.

When I stated nothing has changed I was referring to the fact that the only dealer listing is as previously mentioned in AWD's post. That is the results I was referring to. That dealer is in NJ. the only dealer listed no matter where you enter as a search starting point and how many miles you indicate.

These cars are real too. I looked up a bunch of the VIN’s.

Six months have passed since the G70 started selling in Canada and still we have no date for this car in USA. Looking at the G80 monthly selling units I would say that Genesis plan was to sale no less than 1500 G70 units a month in USA. If you do some rapid numbers, would you agree with me that Genesis USA has lost at least $300,000,000 during this time?

Those 17 cars at the same dealer popped up Friday night, they do not appear on dealer's site so likely "in transit"

https://www.cars.com/shopping/genesis-g70-2019/

According to the sales manager there:
"We are expecting the G70 this week! We were hoping for late last week but nothing showed up. We are expecting to see the first one before the end of the week."

The fact that they were "hoping" for last week, but nothing showed doesn't seem too promising. Add this to the fact that there's been no mention of NJ getting them this early maybe we should take this with a grain or salt.

I think maybe it will be for real. I checked the vehicle history by vin for a couple of the G80 Sports (not interested in the G70), and they have a line in there for Shipped to Dealer. One item that doesn't line up is the description on Cars.com says AWD but the MSRP in the report says 55K. Maybe they don't take options into account for this vin site. We may see them soon.

Anybody know when the 2019 G80 Sports are going to come out? I want the G70 but fear the back seats may be a little too small. Since it's so late into the year, I might as well wait for the 2019 G80's to come out. I cannot find much info on the interwebs about them. Also wanted to know what's different from the 2018's. I may be waiting and waiting like we are on the G70.

I'm thinking the same thing. I'm curious about the MY 2019 G80 SPORT.

Been watching and reading everything I can find, so far no information whatsoever on the 2019 G80 Sport. :(

Very disheartening. Makes me wonder if Genesis is in serious trouble? All the dealerships in Northern Va have like 3 G80's sitting around. Some of them are used as Loaners.

Until they get all of the legal issues done with their new franchising I would imagine availability will be spotty at best. I was hoping to be able to test drive and decide by now but realistically it probably will be early next year. I don't think they were anticipating the lawsuits/state legal issues. I'm hoping they will be able to recover from this and it will just be a blip and part of their growing pains.

All you will probably find is a generic statement on their website (and they'll change it to 2019 Genesis G80 Sport, and update the language, but Coming Soon will remain.......). Sarcasm.....
